Teaching content:

This class is the Grade5 Book 1. It’s the Unit 4 What can you do? Part C Story time: Snake and Rat . Teaching material analysis: This part is about: How did the rat get rid of the snake.Students can master the words 、phrases and the sentences: “What can you do? I can... . Can you...? Yes, I can / No, I can't. ”in the story.The teacher will use the pictures and the context to help the students understand the sentences. Eg:Don’t throw me into the lake, please! Silly snake!... . Student analysis:

The students have learned English for about two years. They are very active. And they like playing games very much.They’ll be interested in this story .Students will study it easily and happily.

Teaching aims:

1、Knowledge aims:

(1)Words: rat, snake, tasty,

lake, silly, away;

(2) Sentences patterns: What can you do? I can... Can you...? Yes, I can. / No, I can't.

(3)Explain the sentences: Here comes some tasty food. I can ... for you. There's a... . Don't... . 2、Ability aims:

(1)Can understand the story and read it ;

(2)Can act and retell the story with the help of the teacher .

3、Emotion aims:

The students can use the language of this unit to talk about the interesting story.They will be interested in English. And know we should protect the animals.

Teaching important point: Make the students understand the language of this story in proper scene.

Teaching difficult point:

Lead the students to role-play and retell the story.

Teaching preparation: Multimedia courseware,PPT,flash.

Teaching procedure:

Step Ⅰ Warm-up

1、Greetings. 2、Sing the song “ What can you do?”

What can you do? What can you do?

I can sing English songs.

Can you sing songs, too?

I can do kung fu. I can do kung fu.

I can dance and draw cartoons.

Can you draw cartoons, too?

Step Ⅱ Pre-reading task(Preview)

1、Challenge (review the words and the phrases) 2、Free talk:“ What can you do? I can... ”, “Can you...? Yes,I can/No,I can’t.”

3、Let’s guess

T: Now, look,what animals will come here? (...) 4、Introduce the story let’ s see who comes here.(show the picture “Snake ”and “rat”) A snake comes here. The rat is very frightened.

But the snake still caught the rat. Well, this is today’ s story.

Step Ⅲ While-reading task

1、Brain Storm (Show one of the pictures of the story. Talk about what the snake/rat can do.)

2、Fast-reading(Ask the Ss to watch the flash, then find the answers quickly.) Answer :Does the snake want to eat the rat? Is the rat clever? 3、Scan (Ask the Ss to read the story.Then judge the sentences) (

Step Ⅳ Post-reading task

1、Role-play with their partners. 2、Show Time. (Ss act the story in their groups,then show for us. ) 3、Retell the story.(Ss can use the words、phrases or sentences to retell the story.) Step V Summary Consolidate the sentences of this story. Homework:

1.Try to consolidate the sentences; 2.Try to retell and share the story.
