Step I

leading-in

In our daily life ,we can’t live without communication with others. So it’s important to be good at making small talk. How do you think you can start a friendly and effective conversatrion? (The class think and then call their different answers.) Step II

Activity 1 1.

The class do acivity 1 individually. 2.

check their answers and practice the important words 1.

I recognised a boy who used to attend my school. Strangely enough, I didn’t recognise your voice on the phone. Can you recognise the man with sunglasses?

Scan the passage quickly and decide what kind of book it is from

Then call the answers: It’s from a book which tells you what to do at social events. Step IV

Reading the passage and do Activities3&5 1.

Read the passage silently 2.

Work in pairs and Answer the questions in Activity 3 and in Activity 5 3.

Read the passage loud together to better understand it and check the anwers to the quetions in Activities 3＆５．

Work in pairs and discuss the anwers to the quetions in Activity 6 Step V

Making questions about the difficulties in the passage 1.

The class look back through the passage to pick out any difficulties for further explanation. 2.

Explain and practice some key expressions 1.
