Unit 4 Pygmalion (Learning about Language) Teaching aims:

Students can learn and master the vocabulary and phrases of this unit and know how to memorize words in classification. Teaching objectives:

Students master some important vocabulary and the usage of the present or past participles used as the adverbial (such as outcome, condemn, adaptation, and so on) 2.

Students can learn how to learn by themselves and how to cooperate

Students can make use of what they have learnt to express themselves and experience the joy of learning Important and difficult teaching points:

Students know how to use some impotant and difficult words and phrases Teaching procedures: Step 1: lead-in Show the teaching aims and objectives to students briefly and arouse students’ learning interest Step2: Review To find some important phrases learnt in the reading text (give students these phrases’ Chinese meanings and ask them to find related English phrases) Step 2: Presentation Present some important words and phrases to students (ask some students to explain the meaning of these words and phrases in their own words and try their best to make some sentences; if not, teachers give some necessary explanations and example sentences to help them) Step3: Practice Ask students to finish the test and examine their answers in the class (as for some important and difficult questions, teachers explain in detail; in this process, students can cooperate with their partners) Step 4: Self-learning Ask students to find more examples in which the past participle is used as the adverbial and then make up one or two of their own(in this process teachers only act as an assistant) Homework: 1.

To memorize waht they have learnt after class and check next class 2.

To write a short passage using these words and phrases above 3.
