III.Difficult points:Learn to express preferences with “What’s your favorite...?” and give reasons. IV.Teaching process Step 1 Lead-in T:What’s your favorite sport?What’s your favorite food? (Let students talk about it in pairs and show it to the whole class.) T:What’s your favorite subject?(Let students try to express the word by themselves.) Step 2 Listening 1.Listen to 1b and circle the subjects your hear. 2.Listen to 2a and put the conversation in order.Then let students read them all.Choose two students practice it in front of the class.

3.Listen to 2b.Try to match the subjects with the descriptions.Then,let students describe their favorite subject with their own words. Step 3 Pairwork 1.Give them 5 minutes to make up a conversation just like 1c and 2c. 2.Act it out. Step 4 Role-play Work on 2d.

（1）What’s your favorite...?意为“你最喜欢的……是什么？”，是英语中用来询问对方喜欢的事物的常用句型。

—What’s your favorite color?你最喜欢的颜色是什么？

—White.白色。

（2）favorite(like...best) 此处用作形容词，意为“特别喜爱的”，通常用作定语修饰名词，其前常用形容词性物主代词或名词所有格修饰。

Tom’s favorite subject is English.=Tom likes English best.汤姆最喜欢的科目是英语。

2.P.E.体育

P.E.作名词，是physical education的缩写形式。

【拓展】学科名词作主语时，谓语动词用单数形式。

P.E. is very interesting.体育非常有趣。

3.—Why do you like P.E.?你为什么喜欢体育？

—Because it’s fun.因为它很有意思。（教材第50页）

（1）why是疑问副词，意为“为什么”，询问原因。常用来引导特殊疑问句，其答语常用

“Because+句子.”。

—Why does he like baseball?他为什么喜欢棒球？

—Because it’s fun.因为它很有意思。

（2）because作连词，意为“因为”，其后跟句子，陈述原因或理由，常用于回答why引导

的疑问句。

—Why is he not here?他为什么不在？

—Because he is ill.因为他生病了。

【注意】在汉语中“因为……所以……”常会同时出现在一个句子中。在英语中，because 和so不能同时出现在一个句子中，两者只能用其一。

Because geography is interesting,I like it.=Geography is interesting,so I like it.因为地理很有趣，

所以我喜欢它。

4.That’s for sure.的确如此。（教材第50页）

That’s for sure.表示完全赞同他人的观点，相当于汉语中的“那是肯定的；确实是这样的”。

—Swimming is good for us.游泳对我们有好处。

—That’s for sure.的确如此。
