Unit 2 Cloning Using structures Teaching aims: 1. Students develop their abilities of using language. 2. Students learn proper skills to find and solve problems. 3. Students learn to cooperate with each other. Teaching important points: 1. Students grasp and use appositive clause. 2. Students are instructed to write their own appositive clauses. Teaching difficult points: 1. How to help students understand and grasp appositive clause properly. 2. How to instruct students to make appositive clauses. Teaching methods: 1. Individual work 2. Group work 3. Discussion 4. Question and answer

Teaching procedures; Step 1. Presenting 1. Give students some examples of appositive clauses so students can review general rules for this grammatical items. e.g 1) I cannot accept the truth that I wasn’t admitted into the university that I applied for last year. 2) Word came that all the pupils in this area could enter the key middle –school without any examination. 3) I have a great wish that one day I can invent a robot that can do all the housework. Step 2 Finding rules and make a summary Teacher asks students : 1. What is the definition of appositive clause? 2 Which words can be followed by appositive clauses？

idea assumption guess belief 3. Students make a summary of appositive clause. Step 3 Practice 1. Students do Ex1 on P56. Teacher can give some instructions to make sure students understand how to do it. 1) Get students to read each half sentence to understand their

meanings. 2) Tell students they may have more than one choice when they combine two halves. 3) After 5 minutes ,students report their answers and teacher explain any problems they may raise. Step 4 Further practice 1.Students do Ex2 as a solidation. 2.Students should read 7 clauses carefully before doing the exercise. 3. After doing this, students report their answers and translate the seven appositive clauses correctly. Step 5 Writing appositive clauses. 1. Students read Ex3 and discuss the story in group of four. 2. Pair work.Studens work in pairs and complete the story together. 3. In a group, students exchange their stories and correct any mistakes in the writing, 4. Students volunteer to report their stories.
