7Bit U6 Reading

Down the rabbit hole

Step 1 Free talk 1.

What do you like to do in your free time? 2.

Can you guess what I like to do in my free time? T: I like to read stories when I am free. I think reading is fun and good for us.Do you agree with me? Here are some of my favourite stories. Do you know their names? They are Snow White, the Little Mermaid, and the Lion King.

Step 2 Lead-in 1.

Today we will read a story together. It comes from a book called Alice in Wonderland. This book is about Alice---a lovely and brave girl. 2.

Now, let’s go to this story.First look at the title. (1)

What can you get from the story? (2)

Where may the story happen? (3)

Who may be in this story? 3.

Now let’s enjoy a video about this story. Please pay attention to what Alice and the rabbit did in the video.

Step 3 Vocabulary and phrases 1.

What did Alice do at first? 2.

What did Alice see? 3.

What did the rabbit do? 4.

What did Alice do after seeing the rabbit? 5.

What did she do next? 6.

What could she see in the big hole? 7.

How were the doors?

In today’ lesson, pay attention to these past tenses.

Step 4 Fast reading We have already known the story is between Alice and the rabbit. But when and where did the story happen? Pay attention please. When you want to know when and where, you only need to read some important points or read the whole passage quickly. You will have two minutes to read the story and find out when and where the story happened. Read with your eyes. Go! Time is up.

1.

When did the story happen?--on a sunny day

2.

Where did the story happen? (1)

By the river (2)

Across the field

(3)

In the hole

Step 5 careful reading 1.

Para1-2 (1)But what exactly happened? Let’s go on to learn more. Please read para1&2 to find the answers to these questions. This time.

Read aloud. Go! (2)Please answer in pairs. One asks and the other answers. (3)Now can you repeat Para1&2 according to the phrases on the screen. You can repeat like this. Can you practise like this? Half a minute. Go! (4)

Look at this rabbit. It was in a coat. It could speak. It also took a watch out of its pocket and looked at the timw. How amazing! ( read after me)

(5)

If you were Alice, what will you do after seeing such an amazing rabbit? Would you just sit there or go and have a look? 2.

Para3 (1)

What did Alice do after seeing the rabbit? Let’s go to para 3 to find the answer.

(2)

Read the story together. (3)

What did Alice do? (4)

Who jumped down the hole first? (5)

Why did Alice jump down the hole too? (6)

Now, let’s repeat together. (7)

If you were Alice, would you jump down the hole ? 3.

Para 4-5 (1)

Let’s follow Alice to jump down the hole to see what amazing things are waiting for us. (2)

Enjoy a video of Para4&5. Pay attention to what Alice did in the video. (3)

Now I will give you one minute to underline the verbs for Alice’s actions. (4)

How do you know Alice fell for a long time? Down, down, down. (Read) (5)

In the hole, Alice met some problems. Read the sentences by yourselves and find the problems. (6)

Let’s read the sentences together. So when writing, you can use the sentences in the same structure to make your article more interesting. 4.

(1) That’s all for today’s story--down the rabbit hole. So if you were Alice, can you retell the story?

Boys for Part 1 Before jumping You can begin like this:

One sunny day, ... Girls for Part 2 After jumping

You can begin like this:

Down, down, down. ...

Step 6 Imagine You see, Alice was too big for the door. Can you help her? What may happen to her?

Discuss with your partners about it. Try to think of some wonderful ideas to help Alice. If it is hard to use English, you can use Chinese for your ideas. Clear?

I believe you can have more wonderful ideas. Just try your best to imagine because imagination is more important than knowledge. And try to read more in your free time because reading makes a full man.

Here’s your homework.

That’s all for today. I am happy to be here with you. Thank you very much.
