(Teaching purposes and reflection: When greeting, it is necessary to use as easy sentences as you can. Because it is a step for students to warm up, and in this class it is the first time for students to say English. If the students can answer the questions easily, they will be more confident. If the students are confident, they will be more excited and involved in the class. )

Step2: Lead in ①

Create an atmosphere of an adventure ---Invite all the students to go to the Disney Land Park. T: Do you like adventure?

Ss: Yes! T: Today we will have an adventure. Follow me! Let’s go! ②

Show different kinds of rooms on PPT. There are three rooms in the Disney Land Park. T: Look, there are three rooms here. Let’s go and see.

(Teaching purposes and reflection: In order to form a integrating reading, I create an atmosphere of an adventure. I invite all the students to go to the Disney Land Park. There are three rooms in this park--- Cartoons Room, Story Room and Writing Room. The students don’t feel dull, on the contrary, they feel very interested and excited. They have fun in this part, and they will be more interested in the next parts. )

Step 3: Presentation ①

Firstly, teacher introduces the first room---Cartoons Room. And then introduce the first character “Mickey”. Mickey lives in the city, but his friend Minnie lives in the country. T: Let’s come to the first room. In this room, there are many pictures of famous cartoons. Do you know them? Let’s see.

(Teaching purposes and reflection: In this room, I show some pictures of famous cartoons, for example: Snow White, Winnie,Elsa, Anna, Mickey, Minnie and so on. All the students are familiar with them, they are willing to answer my questions. Meanwhile, I will use Mickey and Minnie in the next part.)

②

and bridges. But his friend Minnie lives in the country, on his way to Minnie’s

home. What can he see? Learn the new words “mountains, lakes, rivers”. (Teaching purposes and reflection: I use Mickey and Minnie these two characters. Mickey lives in the city, and Minnie lives in the country. Naturally, I show pictures of tall buildings, bridges, mountains, lakes and rivers. )

Come to Room 2—Story Room. Introduce the country mouse Tom and the city

mouse Jack.. Show the whole story. Ask Ss to look and listen to the story carefully.

T: This is the second room, it’s a story about another two mice. Look at and listen to the story carefully. And then try your best to act the story out.

Let’s read the whole story together.

Work in pairs to read the story. Ask two pairs to act the story out.

(Teaching purposes and reflection: In this room, we come to the main topic--- A country mouse and a city mouse. Students should listen to the story carefully. And try their best to follow the teacher. At last, they should speak out the sentences fluently. If they master the sentences very well, they will act the story out.)

Step 4: Practice ①

Come to the third room. T: Now, this is the last room—Writing room. In the story, Tom and Jack don’t like each other’ home. Do you like your home? Please write about your home. ②

Show an example about my home. And then ask students to write about their homes.

(Teaching purposes and reflection: It is the third room, in order to promote students’ ability, I want all the students to write a short passage about their own home, using the sentences and words they learned in this class. It is a good time for the students to show their overall capability in their team. They should learn to cooperate with each other, and they should learn to help each other.)

Step 5: Consolidation

Let’s chant to celebrate our success.: •

Tall buildings, tall buildings. •

Rivers, rivers. •

There are many rivers.

(Teaching purposes and reflection: It is a simple chant, including some important words and sentences. It’s easy for students to read. All the students read the sentences with rhythm, meanwhile they clap their hands, which is an easy way for them to summary the key points.)

Step 6: Summary and homework ①

Homework: •

Introduce your home in English to your friends or family members.

(Teaching purposes and reflection: In order to ask students to use sentences in a real situation, I ask students to speak out their own short passage at home. It is a best way to for them to show their speaking abilities and writing abilities.)

8. layout designing

5

A country mouse and a city mouse Simple pictures of “City”

Simple pictures of “country”

(add key words to match each

(add key words to match each picture) picture)

(Teaching purposes and reflection: There are four parts in this layout designing. The first part is the title. The second part is the key sentences: There are many... Are there any…? Yes, there are./ No , there aren’t. East or west, home is best. The third part is the picture of “city”, which is on the left. There are some key words attaching to the blackboard to match each picture. The fourth part is the picture of “country”, which is on the right. There are also some key words adding to the pictures. This layout is very pretty and clear. It’s easy for the students to understand each new word, therefore it’s easy for them to master all the words and sentences.)
