Bill the Kid Teaching aims: 1.

Knowledge Aims: Students are able to identify and read words with “i” in Bill the Kid: Bill/kid/sit/hill/will/nip/big/fin/dip/Mitt. Students are able to understand the phrases: on the hill/go for a dip/a big fin/get a nip/have a good dip with the help of relevant pictures. Stduents are able to choose the right words to fill in the blanks in Bill the Kid and retell it. 2.

Ability Aims: Stduents are able to try to use phonics to read words with “i”.

Stduents are able to look at the pictures and try to predict what will happen . Stduents are able to retell Bill the Kid and form the ability of speeching. 3.

Emotional Aims: Stduents are able to learn that it’s not good to go for a dip without their parents. Teaching Key Point: 1.

Teaching Procedures:

Warm-up 1.

Greet students with “Good afternoon!” and “How are you?”

Introduce a new friends: Bill 3.

Let’s read a story about Bill.

Presentation: 1.

Lead students to look at Bill and teach “kid”. And students predict what Bill will do. 2.

Give students to questions: What does Bill do? Where does Bill sit? Students try to use phonics to spell “sit” and “hill”.

Teach the phrase “on the hill”

Ask students try to read the sentences: Bill sits pn the hill. Look at the sun. and ask “What’s the weather like?” and predict what Bill will do.

Look at the picture and students try to read “dip” and answer the predicted question. Teach the phrase “go for a dip”, and students try to read the sentence “ Bill will go for a dip!”

Lead students look at the fin. Students predict what it might be. Show the fin of a fish and a shark. And teach “fin” and “a big fin”.

Students try to read “Look! It is a big fin.”

5.

Ask stduents “Will Bill get a nip?” and teach “nip” and “get a nip”.

Stduents try to read “Will Bill get a nip?”

6.

Look at the fish. And teach “Mitt”.

Students predict what Bill and Mitt do. 7.

Look at the picture and teach the phrase “have a good dip”.

Ask students to read the sentence: Bill and Mitt have a good dip. 8.

Answer the two questions about Bill the Kid. Practice 1.

Stduents find words with “i” and read them.
