Step I

Lead in In order to draw students’

attention to the past participle, the teacher first shares something about her college life with students by using rich and colorful pictures. Then the teacher shows several sentences containing the past participle and the present participle from the sharing on the screen and students

are asked to observe and discuss the colored words: what do they have in common?

Step II

Grammar focus 1.

The past participle used as the attribute a.

The teacher shows students several phrases and sentences to think about the function and position of the past participle used as the attribute. b.

Two points that students need to keep in mind.

The teacher makes students understand the definition of object and object complement by showing the colorful pictures of famous actors and schoolmate. b.

Students observe some examples and get the sentence pattern including the

object complement. Besides, they know the words which can be followed by object and object complement. c.

Students master the difference between V-ing and V-ed used as object complement by comparing two sentences.

Step III

Game (red packet) Totally, there are nine red packets for students to choose. The more the red packet is, the more difficult the task will be. The task could be multiple-choice question, filling in the blanks and translation. It’s aimed at relaxing students and help them consolidate what they have learned today. Step IV

Summary and homework The teacher makes a summary of the whole class and emphasizes the differences between V-ing and V-ed used as the attribute, predicative and object complement. Students are required to review the usages of past participle and make several sentences by using past participle as attribute, predicative, and object complement.
