Lesson 16 How do you go to school

Teaching goles

A 学生能听懂、会说、会说并书写下列词汇:foot , by

Teaching procedure

Step 1 Greetting

Greet my students as they arrive for class. Ask some questions such as : Is your house near the ( ) ? What is near your house ?

Step 2. New concepts

A Do you walk to school ?

a. near far

These students are near these students.

These students are far from the other students.

b. on foot , by bus , by car , by bike

Walk back and forth as I say on foot over and over .

Prend I am on a bike and as I do the action say by bike .

Show the pictures of a bus and then pretend I am driving a bus and say by bus .

Show the pictures of a car and then pretend I am driving a car and say by car .

B. Play the audiotape and follow along.

a. Point to the thought bubble for Kim. What is Kim thinking ?

b. Read Kim’s answer.

C. Why does Kim go to school on foot ?

C. Point to the thought bubble for Jenny. What is Jenny thinking ? She is thinking about a bus. Jenny goes to school by bus .

D. How does Steven go to school ?

E. Now play the audiotape again and follow along with the text and pictures.

Step 3. Practice and role play

A.Ask four volunteers to help you read this passage now . One student is Danny , one is Jenny , one is Kim and one is Steven.

B.The students come forward with their books and read the passage according to their roles while the others follow along .

C.Now ask everyone to close their books and ask questions to see how well they recall the information:

a.How does Danny do to school ? By bike.

b.How doea Kim go to school ? On foot.

c.How does Jenny go to school ? By bus.

d.How does Steven go to school? By car.

e.Who takes Steven go to school by car? His dad.

Step 4. Let’s chant !

A. Divide the class into gour groups.

B. Read the words to the chant with them.

C. Each group makes pictires to show how they go to school.

D. When everyone is ready, first they present their verse while the audiotape plays, then they do it on their own without the aid of the audiotape.

Step 5. let’s do it

A. Explain the exercise to them.

B. Ask students to take turns asking and answering.

C. Play the audiotape for this part to help them get a good idea of what I want them to do. Step6. Homework

A. Ask students to make a dialogue using the new sentences in this class.

B. Write the passage in this class for one time.

C. Read the passage for two times.
