Write a good English composition Step 1 Pre-writing

Activity 1. Lead-in

Show the students 2 compositions and ask them to compare them.

Activity 2. Information input Show the students the standard for evaluation 0f the College Entrance Examination. Step 2 Basic skills equipped before writing

Activity 1. Use advanced sentence structures Ask the students to change the sentences into advanced sentence structures

according to the requirements in the blanks , such as compound sentences or verb -ing form or -ed.

Activity 2. Use proper linking words. 1. List different linking words on the blackboard, getting students to know their relations and meaning. 2. Blank-filling Show a short passage, then get the students to fill in the blanks with correct linking words in the column.

Activity 3. Avoid common mistakes.

Show some sentences with some common mistakes, getting the students to correct the mistakes ,pointing out that while writing ,some simple mistakes should be avoided in order to get high marks. step 3 while wring.

Give a requirement of a composition, get the students to finish it by using the knowledge we learnt in the ppt to polish it, making it fluently and advanced. Step 4 Post-writing

Activity 1.

Individual work Ss: Look through their own writing to correct some obvious mistakes alone, such as words’ spelling , verb tenses.

Activity 2 .

Pair work Ss: Exchange their writings with their partner and ask their partner to read their writing to point out the mistakes. And at the same time they need to give each other some suggestions about writing such as: how to express the same meaning better. T: Join in the students to comment on their writing and give some students a brief comment, and then take photographs of some typical articles. Step 4 Feedback

Activity :Writing- Show T: Show some typical writing to the students and let them give comments according to their handwriting and content. （PPT）

Step 5 Summary T&Ss: Sum up the points for attention of how to write a good composition. Step 6 Homework: Finish and revise your writing further to complete your article and then hand in your compositions.
