How Old Are You? Teaching Points: Guide the Ss to review the colours and master the important phrase: How old are you? I’m____years old. And lead the Ss to answer: When is your birthday? Teaching aims and demands:

Master the dialogue:How old are you? I’m ____years old. Then can answer “When is your birthday?”

Word cards. Teaching course: Step One: Warming up

1.Greeting with the English song: 《Good morning to you》or《How are you?》.

2.Listen to the order and act.

Such as: touch your nose/mouth/leg……; Show me your

book/pencile/eraser……; Open your pencile case/book/eyes……. 3.A free talk or make a dialogue with the students. Stpe Two:

Review 1.Review colours with a“question and answer”drill. Then chant: Point red, point green,point blue and yellow ,too……

2.Take out the cards to review the numbers and the months of the year

.Then use the English calendar to practise the date expression.(What’s the date? It’s______.) Step Three:

Introduce 1.A free talk: okay boys and girls, What’s the date?(Ask the Ss to answer.) I’m very happy, because today is my birthday.I’m thirty-eight years old.Can you sing the birthday song for me? (Sing the song.)Thank you. Now,I want to know“How old are you?”(Write the title on the Bb。)

2.Demonstrate“How old are you?I’m____years old.”with the poster of people of different ages.Point to each picture in order and say the age.(Note that for a person one year old,We say“One year old.”

3.Demonstrate the phrase with a serise of individual students. Step Four: Guide to practise 1.Guide the Ss to practise the phrase in pairs. Then check the result. 2.Make a dialogue with the Ss: __ When is your birthday? __ My birthday is _____. __ How old are you? __ I’m ____ years old. Step Five: Changing practice 1.Use a modified chain-drill.(Pass the ball to practise.) 2.Role- play. ( Ask some volunteers to demonstrate the dialogue.) A: Hello!______. I’m______.What’s your name? B: My name is _______.Nice to meet you ,_____.When is your birthday? A: My birthday is _____.When is your birthday? B: My birthday is_____.I’m_____years old.How old are you? A: I’m______years old. Nice to meet you. 3.Make a song with the important phrase,Then lead the Ss to sing:

How old are you? How old are you? I am nine.I am nine.How old are you? How old are you? How old are you? I am ten.I am ten. ( Change the words to sing.) Step Six:

Listen and repeat. 1.Play the audiotape and lead the Ss to listen and read correctly. 2.Check the learning result.Give some questions ,Then lead them to answer .Guide the Ss to understand the dialogue correctly. Homework: Use the important expression to practise each other in the life.
