With this faith, we will... 2.Ability goals: Enable students to use the rhetoric strategies in speech and develop students’

ability of appreciation, imagination and resonance. 3.Learning ability goals: Help students know some rhetoric strategies used in the speech and learn to use them in writing. Help students learn to appreciate more beautiful sentences in the speech. Teaching important points:

Stimulate students’

imagination and arouse their resonance in undersanding the speech and the strong emotion expressed between the lines of the speech.

Teaching difficult points: Arouse students’s desire to make a speech in front of the class by using right intonations and rhythms. Teaching methods: Team work learning, task-based learning, appreciation, brainstorm and stimulation. Teaching aids:

A projector and some slides. Teaching procedures: Step1.Lead-in 1) Read a poem “Dreams” by Langston Hughes to lead in. --What is your dream?

--I have a dream that one day I will be ...because... 2) Learn sth about Martin Luther King Jr. He is the most prominent(杰出的) black leader in American history. In 1963, he led the greatest march（游行）

in Washington. In 1964 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. He was murdered on April 4th, 1968. Step3.Presentation. 1.

Learn some phrases to understand the passage better. 2.

Listen to the passage.

What do you think of the speech? Is it boring or inspiring? What do you think makes the speech powerful? or What special methods are used in the speech? 3.

Fast-reading Read quickly and find out Mr King’s dreams. 4.

Careful-reading Read the passage carefully and find out special methods used in the passage. 1) Repetition\Parallelism(排比句) 2) Quotation（引用）

3) Metaphor(暗喻) and simile(明喻) 5. Read the passage again and find some examples to Repetition, Quotation, metaphor and Simile. 6. Homework Write a passage: My dream.
