2.Be able to use the following sentences to describe the occupations of others: Who's that man? He/She is... What is he/she? He/She is... What does he/she do? He/She is... What about this woman? He/She is...

2)Ability objectives:Improve students’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing. 3)Emotion objectives:Foster the students’ future dream.

Teaching steps:

Step1:Leading in I.Greetings:(1’)

(Purpose: Review the words about occupations and lead to new lesson...)

T: Good morning, boys and girls. Ss: Good morning, Miss Xu. T: Look at that picture, who’s that man?(Show a photo of Li Yifeng.)

Ss: He is Li Yifeng. T: Yes, he is Li Yifeng. OK. Today we will learn unit 3 who’s that man?(Write down the title on the blackboard.) T:I’m a teacher, and you are students, right?

Ss: Yes, we are students. T: OK. Let’s review the words together now.(Show the words about occupations.) Three times, “student”, one two. Ss: Student,student,student... II. Introduction(2’)

（Purpose: Review the structures of occupations to lead in new lesson.) T: Well done! Now, look at the blackboard, what’s this man?(Show the question and picture a, write “what’s this man?” on the blackboard and draw a line under “this man”.)

Ss: He is a driver.（Show the answer and write it on the blackboard and draw a line under “driver”.) T:What about this woman?(Show the question and picture b, write “What about this woman?” on the blackboard and draw a line under “this woman”.) Ss: She is a teacher.（Show the answer and write it on the blackboard and draw a line under “teacher”.) T: What is that man? Ss:He is a worker. ...

Step2:Presentation（18’）

(Purpose: Give the students a detail explanation about the new lesson with ample examples, lead them to do some exercises and ask them to do some practices by themselves.)

I.Teaching the word “pupil”(Show Zhang Zijun’s photo.) T:Who is this girl? Ss: She is Zhang Zijun. T:What is she? Ss:She is a student. T:She is a student in a primary school. She is not in a middle school. So she is a pupil. Zhang Zijun is a pupil, and you are pupils,too(Show the word and write it on the blackboard). Please read after me, pupil, pupil, pupil. Ss:Pupil, pupil, pupil. T:Here is a letter “u”,it’s pronunciation is [u:] , and the letter“i”doesn’t pronounce. Read after me, pupil, pupil, pupil.（Read it from lowest to highest.）

Ss:Pupil, pupil, pupil. T：OK. Please memorize the word and try to write it down on your exercise book. If you are the one who got it first, please write it down on the blackboard. II.Teaching the word “basketball player” and the structure “Who’s that man?”.(Show the photo of Yao Ming.) T:Who’s that man?(Write it down on the blackboard.) Ss:He is Yao Ming.(Write it down on the blackboard.)

T: Yes, he is Yao Ming, he can play basketball very well. So he is a basketball player. (Show the word basketball player.)“basketball player” means 篮球运动员（Show the Chinese meaning.）Follow me,basketball player. Ss:Basketball player.（three times）

T:Can you make a sentence with basketball player? Ss:Yao Ming is a basketball player. T:Very good, sit down, please.So,who’s that man?(Show the photo of Beckham.) Ss:He is Beckham. T:Yes, he is Beckham. He can play football, so what is he? Ss: He is a football player. T:You are clever. III.Teaching the word “actor” and leading in the structure of “What does he do?”.

T:Who’s that man?(Show Cheng Long ’s photo.)

Ss:He is Cheng Long. T:Yes, he is Cheng Long. He can act.He is an actor. (Mark “or” with red.)What does he do?Or what is he?(Write down “What does he do?= What is he?” on the blackboard.) Ss:He is an actor. T:Yes, he is an actor. Here is a letter a, it’s pronunciation is [æ]. Please read after me, actor. Ss:Actor.(three times) 单词actor 是以元音因素开头的单词，在表示一个男演员时，要用an. T:Who else is an actor? S1:Li Yifeng is an actor. S2:Lu Han is an actor. S3:Zhao Liying is an actor. T:No, Zhao Liying is not an actor. But you made a good mistake. Zhao Liying is a woman, we should say actress. (Show Zhao LiYing’s photo.) Cheng Long is a man, so we should say actor. Who else is actress? Ss: Zhao Wei is an actress. IV.Teaching the word “scientist”

T:Who’s that man?

Ss: He is Einstein. T:What does he like? Ss:He likes science. T: Yes, you are right. He likes science.So he is a scientist.What does he do? Ss: He is a scientist. T:Do you want to be a scientist. Ss:Yes, we do. T: Very good ,but it’s not easy. You should study hard. And wish your dream come true.

Ss:Thank you. T:Who else is a scientist? Ss: Yuan Longping is a scientist . V.Teaching the word “police officer”

T:Who’s that man?

Ss:He is Qu Zuyi. T:You are right. So what does he do? Ss: He is a policeman. T:Yes, he is a policeman.And he is a police officer. Is your father a police officer,too? Ss:No, he isn’t.

T:Do you want to be a police officer? Ss:Yes, I do. T:Haha, you are great. The police officer is cool. I hope you will be a police officer. VI.Use the same method to teach the words:singer, reporter. VII.教学小贴士

大部分表示职业的词汇是在原名词或动词后加-er, -or, -ant, -ist, -ess等派生而来的，eg：cleaner, waiter, actor, actress, accountant, artist, policeman, policewoman. 其中部分职业是由性别之分的，男性、女性职业表达词有所不同。

Step3:Listen(3’)

(Purpose: Foster students’ pronunciation and intonation.) 1.

Students follow the tape and try to imitate its pronunciation and intonation. 2.

Students read the new words in his or her group.

Step4:Practice activities(6’)

(Purpose: To consolidate the new knowledge, teacher leads students to do some exercises and ask them to do some practices by themselves.) A.

The teacher shows word cards to students , and the students read the words and make sentences with “she or he is a...”,

The teacher shows more photos of famous people to students and let the students make a dialogue as follows:

Blackboard Design Unit 3 Who’ s That Man? Period 1

--He is Yao Ming. 总结和反思：本课选自陕旅版六年级下册英语第三单元Who’s that man?的第一课时，是一篇紧扣英语“十二字”教学法设计的一篇教学设计。要学好小学英语，首先要学好单词，只有学好了单词，才能为听、说、读、写各部分的学习铺好路。“展展”部分复习了有关职业的单词，导出新课；“说说”部分复习有关职业的功能句，为学好新课内容提供便利；新课讲授采用了情景教学法，将新单词融入情景中，使学生学的更轻松；听录音跟读，模仿语音语调，培养了学生感知语音语调的能力；“练练”环节巩固了学生本节课所学内容，“用用”部分强化了学生对本课知识的掌握，指引了学生未来职业的发展方向。作业的设计为学生课时二的学习打下了良好的基础。多媒体的运用，使得教学过程变得直观生动，大大激发了学生的学习热情。该教学设计符合六年级小学生身心发展的特点，遵循了学生语言学习的认知规律。我将在今后的教学中不断学习，钻研教材，以使自己的教学水平逐步提高。
