Topic: Unit 2 My family

Teaching material: Part C Story time of unit 2 in PEP primary English book 2.

Teaching aims: To make students grasp the new words: beautiful、actress、wait and so on, the sentence patterns: --Who’s that woman?--She is my mother. / --How beautiful!

Ability aim: Most students can use the knowledge we have learnt today to communicate with each other through real situation and cooperation.

Emotional aim: Enable students to know the importance of family, and the love between family members.

The key points: The new words: beautiful、actress、really and so on, the sentence patterns: --Who’s that woman?--She is my mother. / --How beautiful!

The difficult points: The pronunciation of “beautiful” and how to use the sentence patterns correctly and fluently in our daily life.

Teaching aids: PPT、headwear、multimedia

Teaching procedures: Step1. Pre-task preparations ①.

Greeting with the whole class.

T: Good morning, boys and girls. Ss: Good morning, teacher. T: Are you ready for class? Ss: Yes. T: Let’s sing an English song “I love my family” together, please stand up, clap hands and do the actions.

I love my father. I love my mother. They love me. They love me. I love my grandpa. I love my grandma. They love me. They love me. ②.

Freely talk T: How many people in your family? S1: Three. T: How many people in your family? S2: …

T: How many people in your family? S3: …

…

(The purpose of this step is to create a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere of learning

English, decrease students’ feeling of shorten the distance between the teacher and students. So the students can enter the world of learning English delightfully.) Step 2. While-task procedures ①.

Look and learn T: Boys and girls, look at this, (The teacher shows a photo of two people to the whole class.) they are my family members, can you guess who’s that woman? And who’s that man? S1: Is she your sister? T: No, she isn’t. S2: Is she your mother? T: Yes, she is. You are very clever. And who’s that man? Ss: He’s your father. T: Haha. You’re all right. Can you show me your family photos? (Students take out their family photos, use the sentence patterns: -- Who’s that woman / man?-- She / He is …, to introduce their family members to their classmates.) ②.

Listen and number T: We have two friends today. Zoom and Zip, they are coming. (The teacher use the PPT to show the photo of Zoom’ house, present Zoom and Zip one by one.) T: Today Zoom invites Zip to his house, what are they talking about. Let’s listen to the video and number the pictures. (Use the PPT to present the six pictures of the story which are disordered. Invite students to listen to the story first, then ask some students to number the pictures from one to six.) ③.

Think and answer T: Look at the first picture, who’s that woman in the picture? Is she beautiful?(Invite students to watch the cartoon about Zoom and Zip again. Answer the question) Ss: She is Zoom’s mother. She’s beautiful.(The teacher write down the word “beautiful” on the blackboard, lead students to spell and read it, lead students to break through the pronunciation of “beautiful” by natural phonics.) T: I’m a teacher, you are students. What about Zoom’s mother? (Show some pictures about actress. Help students understand the meaning of this word. Then use the same method to teach this word.) Ss: She is an actress. ④.

Choose and read T: Zoom is introducing his mother to Zip. Try to choose the sentences, and read it out. (Show three pictures which are ahead of the whole story, and three dialogues, ask three students to choose the right sentences to the picture and read it out loudly.) ⑤.

Think and answer (The teacher shows some picture about “cosplay”.) T: Wait a minute, (At last presenting Zoom’s picture) can you guess who is “she”? (Zoom is wearing his mother’s dress.) S1: Is she Zoom’s mother? T: Oh, no, she isn’t.

S2: Is he Zoom? T: Yes, he is. How beautiful! (Invite the whole class to play the train game, use the sentence “How beautiful!”.)

Look and read T: Zoom is so funny! Let’s look and read, girls are Zip, boys are Zoom, I’m Zoom’s mother. One two three, go! (Perceive the picture, and read it out by groups.)

(Through the real situation, students can understand and grasp the new words and sentence patterns, focus on the words and sentence patterns in the teaching process, cultivate students’ spirit of exploring new things, I not only stress the key points, but also break through difficult points.) Step 3. Post-task activities ①.

Act it out T: Do you like this story? Let’s act out the story in groups, here are four headwears for you. Four students in one group. (Ask students to act out the story in groups in front of the whole class.) ②.

Emotional education T: Do you like Zoom? Do you like Zoom’s parents? I like Zoom and his mother, because Zoom is funny, his mother is good-tempered. They can get along well. And their family atmosphere is friendly and harmonious. (The purpose of this step is to cultivate students’ comprehensive ability, and make students to consolidate the knowledge again.
