1.Students will learn some new vocabularies in the passage, such as responsibility, motto. 2. Students will know some more information related to the Olympic Games. Language skills:

1.Students can predict the content of the passage by being given some key words. 2. Students can use a reading skill—skimming to get the main idea of the passage as quickly as possible. 3. Students can use another reading skill—scanning (which is taught before) to find the detail information they want. Learning strategies:

(Cognitive strategy): 1. Students can guess the given words’ meaning by the context. 2. Students can use inductive method to pick up the typical patterns. Culture: Students can learn some cultural knowledge about the Olympic Games. Affect:

Encourage students to cooperate with their partner or teammates to complete the tasks. 三、Students’ potential

1. Students may understand the form of the new words, but

difficulties: they may have difficulties in how to use a word appropriately in the context. 2. Students may be confused about how to use key words to organize the main idea. 四、Five steps, time allocation Step 1 lead in Activities Use a mind-map to present some key words of the passage. Then let students predict what the passage is about. Then I will ask some questions about some related information about the Olympic Games. Give students 30 seconds to skim over the text and find out the new words. Then I will explain the new word for them by using blackboard layout and corpus. ❶Explain the form

Pre-reading: Teaching new words Teach the form, meaning and the use

of the new words. And then with the help of corpus, let students form a habit
