1. What are the two main types of ads?

Possible answers : (1) commercial advertisements (2)

public service advertisements

(show Ss some pictures of these two kinds of ads.) 2. fast reading: skim the passage and answer:

a. What do ads try to persuade people to do? To buy a product or service, or to believe in an idea. b. What does PSA stand for? Public service advertisement. c. What do PSAs aim to do? They aim to teach us and help us lead better lives.

3. Detailed reading

Read the passage again and fill in the blanks. (group work)
