Q: Did you go to some places during the National Day Holiday?
How did you get there? Q: Nowadays, if you want to travel to a place far from where you live as soon as possible. How will you go there? Airplane / bullet train? Do you know how fast the bullet train is?---About 350 kmh However, perhaps in several years, you will have another choice--the maglev, short for magnetic levitation train. Do you know how fast it is? Today we will learn something about it.
Step 2 Reading
Now open your books and turn to P29. Read the passage and try to draw a mind-map for it.(7 mins) A Mind-map is very useful for us to understand a passage. So next time you read a passage, try to draw a mind map. Actually, 501kmh is a little out-of- date now. Next we will watch a video about our recent plan for maglev. Do find out: How fast will the maglev run?
This is our plan and do you know how fast the maglev can reach in the world? Now read Passage 1 on your paper and tell me
Q: How fast it can reach? In which country?
Add a title for the passage. Step 4 Read for more Japan maglev train sets world record Tokyo (CNN) —A Japan Railway maglev train hit 603 kilometers per hour (374 miles per hour) on an experimental track in Yamanashi Tuesday, setting a decisive new world record.
A spokesperson said the train spent 10.8 seconds traveling above 600 kilometers per hour, during which it covered 1.8 kilometers (1.1 miles). Takeo Ookanda, who runs an exhibition center next to the test track, said that witnesses
shouted with excitement and applause when the new record was set. "I was moved just like many other visitors here today," he told CNN. "This maglev project... (increases) the hope that Japan can have a good growth again in the future."
Perhaps many of us don’t like Japan, but we must admit that it is great in Hi-tech,right? What we should do?
Make full use of the latest hi-tech to develop our country. After all, there is no boundary in technology. That is also a reason why we need to learn English well. Step 5 Learn to learn
Just now, we have learned something about maglev, both in China and Japan. Next we will focus on a learning strategy--guessing the meaning of some unfamiliar words. Look at the words underlined, can you guess what they mean? How can we guess the meaning?
---From the context/ word formation Step 6. Drills (Homework)
Read another piece of news and try to guess the meaning of the unfamiliar words
High-speed maglev trains on track for 2021
China expects to deliver 600-kilometer-per-hour, high-speed magnetic levitation trains and 200-km/h medium-speed maglev trains by the end of 2021, according to a leading rail sector executive. Railway giant China Railway Rolling Stock Corp is also going full steam ahead on studying three types of freight trains and a high-speed train, said Sun Bangcheng, director of the company's research institute, in a recent speech. "As one of the nation's 18 research projects, CRRC's advanced rail transit project was launched in 2016. With over 9 billion yuan ($1.4 billion) in funding, the project is projected to be completed by 2021,"
said Sun. CRRC's cutting-edge technology and product development have been fueled by the country's Made in China 2025 strategy, which aims to promote high-end manufacturing. Act.1 Meaning-guessing
