Teaching procedures: Step 1 Warming-up 1)

Greeting

T: Good morning, boys and girls. What’s your name? How are you? Nice to meet you. Show me your fingers, let’s count the fingers.

Sing a song: Old McDonald

Guessing game

Ss listen to the animal sounds from the box and guess what’s inside.

T: What’s in the box?

Ss: It’s a cat/dog/pig/bear/duck.

T: Can you act like a cat/dog/pig/bear/duck.

4) Let’s do

T and Ss do the actions together.

Ss can revise the words:elephant/monkey/bird/tiger/panda. Step 2 Presentation

1)

Creating a scene

T presents a picture of a zoo.

T: Boys and girls, where is it? Yes, this a zoo. Do you like animals? Would you like to go to the zoo together? Ss and T: Let’s go to the zoo.

Present the chant T leads the Ss to observe the features of cat/dog/pig/duck/bear according to the pictures. Then, Ss need to

deduce the pronunciation of letter combinations: at/ig/og/uck in a chant, and then read the chant in rhymes. Look at the cat, it is fat.

Look at the pig, it is big.

Look at the dog, it’s on the log.

Look at the duck, it’s in the truck.

Look at the bear, it’s on the pear.

Say the chant

(1)Ss follow the tape and say the chant together.

(2)Group work. Ss practice in group and then they present together.

Step 3 Practice

Let’s talk

Each groups will walk around the classroom .And when they face the pictures on the wall, Ss should describe the pictures by using the chant. When T say “next one, go go go”, each groups should walk to the next picture, etc.

2)

Group work: Match the sentences

T: There are other animals in the zoo. Let’s see what are they looks like.

T provides the pictures for Ss to discuss in groups and match the sentences. Look at the elephant. It’s on the island.

Look at the monkey. It’s lovely.

Look at the bird. It’s on the T-shirt. Look at the tiger. It’s clever.

Look at the panda. It’s in China.

Make a new chant

T and Ss make a new chant together.
