Module 4 Unit 1 Advertising 高三模块复习学案

Teaching aims: *To

enlarge their vocabulary.

*To review the useful phrases and sentences, including the language points related to them.

*To put what they learn in the class into practice and write a passage about ads. Teaching procedures: Step One: Lead in

Ask the students to revise something about advertisements and ask them to think about some adjectives to describe commercial ads and PSAs. The more, the better.

Step Two: Revision

The whole class will be divided into four teams. Students are asked to look through the whole unit and find out all the useful expressions of commercial ads and public service ads, including phrases and sentences, in different ways. Then each team will write a passage about the advantages and disadvantages of ads, their own opinions included.

TEAM 1 (According to the given phrases and tips, find out the ones with the same meaning in your books )

TEAM 2 (According to the given Chinese versions, find out the match sentences in your books.) 1. 它们也是使人们意识到他人需求的好方法。(P1)

2. 不管我们走到哪里,我们几乎都能看见广告。(P2L1)

3. 我们已经对广告习以为常,甚至常常都意识不到在一天中看见或听见广告。(P2L1)

4. 然而,并非所有广告都跟我们玩花招。(P3L27)

TEAM 3 (Find out the sentences in your books, rewrite them and translate them into Chinese.)

1.When it comes to advertisements, we must all use our intelligence and not be a slave to them. (P3L41)

2. It is time to decide what you want the audience to know or think about. (P18L16)

3. It is important to always try to appeal to the audience in order to get them to react in a certain way. (P18L17)

1

TEAM 4 (Find out useful and important phrases or sentences from P6-P17, write them down and share them with other students later.)

2. Students are asked to paraphrase some expressions above, review the related language points, and do some exercises to consolidate the contents. 3. Read and memorize the useful expressions

Step Three:Consolidation &Writing

Work in pairs and write a passage about the advantages and disadvantages about ads. Then choose one as an example and polish it up together.

Nowadays, we can find advertisements almost wherever we go. So used to them are we that we often do not even realize how many we see and hear in a day.

As we all know, most ads aim at promoting products and making money instead of caring about people’s welfare. Some ads even provide false information, and fool people into buying their useless products.

However, not all ads play tricks on us. PSAs are a good way to make people conscious of the needs of others and aim to teach us and help us lead better lives. Besides, all of these ads are meant to benefit the public, and we often learn a lot by following the advice they give. In my view, we must all use our intelligence and not be a slave to them. What’s more, our government

can make laws to prevent false ads from cheating people.

Step Four:Homework

1. Share the compositions and polish them up for each other.

2. Review the key words, phrases and sentences.
