Step1. Lead-in

Show the students some pictures and a movie Jurassic park to raise the students’

interest.

Step2. Thinking

Do you like dinosaurs? How much do you know about the dinosaurs? Step3. Reading 1. Fast reading

Purpose: To get a brief understanding of the text. Team work:

Ask the students to read through the text, preferably the first and last sentences of each paragraph and then match the main ideas with each paragraph. Paragraphs Main ideas 1 2 3 We are a long way from being able to clone extinct animals. The chance of dinosaurs’ returning to the earth is merely a dream.

It is impossible and unsuitable to clone extinct animals.

2. Careful reading

Purpose: To get Ss to have some details in the text. Individual work: Read the text carefully and try to find more details from the text then discuss the following questions with your partners.
