The analysis of teaching material(教程分析): This lesson is called Mr Li was a teacher,from Unit 2, Module 2, new standard English, book 6.It includes two parts: listen and chant, listen, read, and act out. In part1, it’s a chant about the main points of this lesson. In part2, it’s a text with two paragraphs about Chen Hai and Mr Li, what did they do twenty years ago and now what they are doing, which tells us we need to keep learning no matter how old we are.

The analysis of students(学情分析): Students in grade 5 have studied English at least more than 2 years, they are eager to learn, they are eager to show and their abstract thinking is developing. What’s more, they are forming the ability to explore knowledge by using tools such as dictionaries, pictures and the Internet.

Teaching aims（教学目标）: 1.

The knowledge aims are to master the new words studied , taught and main sentences of the passage Mr Li was a teacher, now he doesn’t work. 2.

The ability aim is to help student to use the simple past tense and simple present tense.

The emotional aim is that we need to keep learning no matter how old we are, which tells us we need to study through our lives..

Teaching procedures（教学过程）:

Step1 Warming up（热身复习）

Ask them what did they do yesterday, pay attention to the simple past tense of the verbs.

Stept2. Leading and new words（导入和新单词）

Today we’re going to learn about what did Mr Li do and what did Chen Hai do twenty years ago, and what they are doing now. At first, here are three pictures about what did they do.Then students will give the answers with simple past tense of the verbs.

Step3. Text teaching(课文教学) Open the book and listen to the tape recorder , read the text and find the new words, then try to answer the questions on the screen. I will give the answers on the screen .Then the picture will show to the students about what did Mr Li do and what did Chen Hai do twenty years ago, what is Mr Li doing and what is Chen Hai doing now. Read the text in groups, in pairs, one by one, boys and girls. Try to retell.And students will read after the radio by two times.

Step4. Practice（巩固练习）

1、Finish the following form in groups.I will give the students 8 strips about the answer, then students should put them in the right places in the form.
