Teaching procedures Step I:Lead-in 1.Good morning, boys and girls, today we’re continue to learn unit 5, meeting your ancestors. In today’s class, we’re going to learn how to write a passage about an object. These are your learning aims. (Are you clear) 2.T: In the last class，we have looked at some cultural relics of Ancient Greece, Egypt and China. Do you want to know more about Chinese cultural relics? Ss: Yes/know. 3.(look at the screen) These pictures are from Sanxingdui ruins. Now, let’s enjoy a video to learn something about Sanxingdui Ruins. After watching the video, please tell us “What can you learn about Sanxingdui Ruins from this video?”

S1: They were found in Sichuan Province. S2: They are famous for bronze tree, masks and so on. S3: …... Step II: Speaking 1.T: Good, Sanxingdui Ruins are very important cultural relics for us Chinese. These four objects are the most typical of all the archaeological objects in Sanxingdui Ruins.

Now, suppose you are a guide in Sanxingdui museum, your job is to

introduce the objects to the visitors. Please think “What aspects should be included when describing an object?”

Step III: Writing 1.T: Now, we have learnt how to describe an object from various aspects and by using some useful words and expressions. Now, I want you to write down your descriptions about these objects.Before our writing, please look at a short passage of the introduction of the bronze tree. There are 10 mistakes in the passage, please correct them. 2.After finishing, ask 2 students to correct the mistakes. 3.T：When you write your own passage, you must avoid these mistakes. You should pay attention to your grammar, spelling, punctuation and handwriting. Now, please imitate this passage to write your own passage. Just choose one from the three objects. 2.8mis later, ask the students to exchange their passages. Then ask 3 students to share their passages.
