The function of Unit 9 is talking about different animals in the zoo. This unit is the succeeding part of the previous unit in terms of the vocabulary about animals. In this unit, we will learn more animals and try to describe their features.

The teacher plays a short TV programme about the animals for students to enjoy. Step 2 Lead-in

The teacher shows the students some pictures of the animals such as panders, peacock, tigers, elephants, etc. and then asks the students, “What’s this? How many …are there? What colour is it? Is it beautiful/cute?” In this way, students can review the knowledge we have learned.

Step 3 Presentation

Today Mr. Liu takes the children to the zoo. Zhou Lin, Wang Li, Amy and Li Xiao are excited about it. And what will you see in the zoo? Now let’s listen to the conversation. 1.

The teacher reads the conversation for one time. Ask students to listen and get the main idea. 2.
