Unit 4 What’s the weather like?

一、教学目标:

1.

知识目标

初步学习有关天气的单词sunny, windy, cloudy, snowy, foggy, rainy,hot, cold. 2.

能力目标

能够询问并回答天气,简单描述天气情况。

3. 情感目标

通过学习用英语描述天气情况,增强用英语表达的信心,提高学习英语的兴趣。

二、教学重难点

1. 有关天气的单词rainy, sunny, hot, windy, cloudy, foggy, snowy, cold等。

2. 掌握并能使用句型“what’s the weather like?”进行询问,并能用

“It’s ... .”

进行描述。

四、教学过程:

Step 1 Warming-up.

1. Sing a song. “Rain, rain, go away.”

2. Free talk.

Did you have a happy holiday?

Look, it’s raining now.

(一首简单优美的英文儿歌将学生带回英语课堂,贴近实际生活的口语交际既紧扣主题又能自然导入新课。)

Step 2 Presentation 1. Rainy

Rain-rainy-it’s rainy.(带动作跟读)

What’s the weather like? It’s rainy. 2.

Sunny and hot

The rain goes away, and the cool Sun is coming.

Sun-sunny-it’s sunny. (带动作跟读,分组读)

What’s the weather like? It’s sunny.

Look, the Sun is so big. It’s very hot. (出示单词并带动作领读)

3. Windy, cloudy and foggy.

a. Play the sound of the wind, and pupils guess.

The wind is so strong.

Wind-windy-it’s windy. (带动作跟读,根据动作的幅度大小高低音来读)

What’s the weather like? It’s windy.

b. Look, there is so much cloud. Who can try to spell the word? (让学生根据前面学习的名词变形容词的方法,尝试自己完成学习)

cloud-cloudy-it’s cloudy.

(带动作跟读,个人读并正音)

What’s the weather like? It’s snowy. When it’s snowy, i feel so cold. Cold-cold-it’s so cold. What’s the weather like? It’s cold.

(单词的学习注重由旧知引入新知,使用肢体语言更形象更具趣味性,提倡举一反三,自主学习,让学生去发现总结规律。)

Step 3 Practice 1.

What’s missing? Read the words with the body language. Let students close the eyes and guess.

(通过单词的缺失游戏来加强学生对单词的认知与记忆。)

Act and guess. One student uses the body language to show the words and ask “What’s the weather like?”, the other students guess the words.

(通过学生边做动作边询问天气,学生来猜测天气,加深对单词句型的记忆。)

Lucky wheel. One student presses the button and ask “What’s the weather like?”, the other students answer it. Then change the role, the others ask and the student in front answers. (幸运大转盘也是为了更好地操练句型,也更富趣味性,调动学生的积极性。)

Step 4 Presentation 1. Please describe the weather in Xuchang. Ask and answer: what’s the weather like in Xuchang? It’s rainy. 2. Please guess what’s the weather like in Beijing. Then show the map of the world. Look at the map and ask and answer “what’s the weather like in ...? It’s ... .”

3. Please enjoy a video of a weather report. “Is she cool? Do you want to be a weather man or a weather woman like her? If you want to be a weather man, you should say like this: Good morning. Here’s today’s weather. In Beijing, it’s sunny.”

(此部分的呈现主要是进行某地天气情况如何的语言输入,由描述本地天气延伸至国内大城市再到国际都市,英语天气预报的欣赏可以使学生眼前一亮,更专注于课堂。)

Step 5 Extension

Ask three pupils to try to be the weather man to broadcast the

weather in different cities. (此部分为上一环节的知识拓展部分,提高学生用英语做事情的能力,检查学生语言输出水平。)

Step 6 listening and learning.

1. One boy is reading about the weather in different cities. Please listen to the tape and find out the two questions.

Q1: What’s the weather like in New York?

Q2: What’s the weather like in London?

2. Read the passage and check out the answers.

3. Read the passage after the tape. (此部分通过听力和回答问题学习文本,尝试让学生自主学习,跟读录音,使其发音更纯正。)

Step 7 Summary.

1. Do and say the words.

2. What’s the weather like? It’s ... . (课后总结有利于学生对本节课有一个整体把握与认知。)

Step 8 Homework.

1. Make some cards of the weather.

2. Listen to the weather report this evening and write down some sentences, then talk about the weather with your friends tomorrow. (课后作业的设计也是为了让学生在课后更好地巩固记忆单词句型,并将其用于实际生活中。)
