Self- help Learning Method Through a short story, let the students think by themselves and talk with others in groups then.

Contents: Look at several pictures on PPT, then give more examples or tell another story. 【

Asking questions; writing on the blackboard; quiz。

Teaching Steps 】

1. Listen to a short story, and think about it. 2. Look at some pictures, describing the pictures and learning some proprietary words. pyramid; mummy; Stonehenge; Crop Circles; unexplained and so on. 3. Have a discussion with other students and try to tell a story.

4. Learn a movie about unexplained thing --

ET, getting key words: alien and UFO. 5. Read the text from page 2 to page 3 fast and answer three questions: How many characters are there in the text? What happened to Justin Forster? Where did this event happen? 6. Figure out the relationship among people appearing in the text. 7. Read the text again and get more details to finish the task: T or F. a. A fifteen-year-old boy was missing in New Hampshire. b. Justin Forster walked to his house at 10:45 am.

c. Kelly thought her brother was taken away by the police. d. When Justin did not show up for lunch the next day, his parents did not worry at all. e. The Mrs. Peterson said that he wouldn’t give up until he find the truth. 8. Have a discussion again with the classmates and imagine the reason why Justin was lost.

9. Show time for students to make up the story and give their stories to the whole class. 【

Homework 】

Please Write a composition about the continuing story about the missing boy, and try to open your mind to tell what the boy experienced during his missing. 【

Teaching Reflection 】

Through this class, it is not hard to know that students like the form of telling stories to develop their class. In the process of teaching, the teacher put the students into the center of the class, which gives them more freedom to create the class they really like. At the same time, it is good for the students to learn more knowledge by their own. Designing some proper and related questions as exercises for students will help them to understand the content and structure of the article. However, many students are not very good at English. As a result, they usually find it hard to give a presentation totally in English.
