Amy June 21st 2018 Language is learned to be used in and for communication. So in this period we shall have the students read, listen, write and speak in English, making use of the focused words, collocations, structures and topic ideas covered in this unit. The teacher may take the following steps in teaching: warming up by reading aloud the text on page 11 to the tape；Reading for forms；discussing about extinct animals；listening and talking about cloning and closing by looking and saying. Main Focus To help students read the passage THE RETURN OF THE DINOSAURS To help students to use the language by reading, listening, speaking and writing Anticipated Learner Difficulty

Aims 1. The vocabularies involved in the text may be difficult for students. 2. Students may feel a little bit difficult to explain their choices.

Topic

Students will be able to talk about cloning extinct animals. Knowledge

Vocabulary Students will learn the following word:

popularity, strike into people’s hearts, embryo, bring back to life, initial, in vain, resist, drawback, merely. Function

Students can talk about acceptance and refusal.

Skills

1. Students will be able to explain there choices.

Cultural awareness

1. Students will learn to protect wild animals. II Lesson Procedures Part 1: Warming-up Think about a question: what do you want to clone? Part 2: discussion Step1: have students discuss the question above; Step2: let students share their ideas; Step3: watch a short cut of the latest movie” Jurassic park- fallen kingdom” and discuss if it is possible to bring dinosaurs back. Part 3: Fast reading Have students read the text fast and scan for the main idea, then try to complete the main idea. Part 4: careful reading Step1: read para.1 and answer the true or false questions. Step2: read para.2 and answer the given question. Step3: reading para3.and infer some information based on the initial word. Part 5: post reading Step1: Introduce some other extinct animals to students and ask them to find more information about them in the book. Step2: have students discuss which one they would like to bring back and why they choose this animal. Step3: provide students sentence pattern for them to use and ask them to finish their short passage by using the sentence pattern. Step4: show their work with the class. Part 6: homework Ask students to finish their work and hand in tomorrow. Reflection

This class is a task-based language teaching class. The type of the task is opinion-gap activity. The main focus is on the communication and discussion between students. I, the teacher, only have function on counselling. The shining point of this kind of teaching is that the students are the center of the class. They all get involved in discussion and expression. I think it doesn’t matter what their attitudes are as long as they can take full participate in the activity.
