Using Language Making the Bet

Reading, imitating and appreciating

I.

Teaching contents

The reading material is Act II, scene I of the play, Pygmalion, which was adapted into a

film named My Fair Lady. In this class, we will focus on understanding the main idea and some details of the scene, imitating the reading text and a video clip of the film, as well as appreciating and commenting the play/ film.

Teaching aims

At the end of the class, students will be able to:

Get the gist and understand the details of the scene.

Know the plot of the whole play and appreciate the language in the play.

Review what happened previously in the last reading class and predict what

will happen next.
