I. Teaching Aims: 1. Train the students’ reading ability.

2. Enable the students to realize the importance of body language . 3. Stimulate the students’ interest and love for learning body language as well as to learn verbal language. II. Teaching Important & Difficult Point Get the students to learn nonverbal language III. Teaching Methods . Warming up to arouse the students’ interest in body language.

IV. Teaching Aids: Multi-media and other normal teaching tools. Teaching Procedures Step 1 Lead-in Use some pictures and listen to a song to lead in the topic. Step 2 Warming Up

1.Lead Ss to the topic of this unit. Teacher may say, “All of the pictures show many difference. Can you tell the others what each picture shows? Can we communicate with a person who can’t speak or a person whose language is different from yours?” Ask Ss to give their explanation for all the above pictures in order to arouse their interest in

the topic — body language. 2.show some pictures of gestures and make the students speak out the meaning that each picture stands for.

3. . Ask some Ss the following questions. 

If you are painful, what expression will you have on your face? 

If you are very angry , how will you show the feeling? 

If you want to show “Be quiet!”, what will you do without speaking?

4. Ask Ss to present the actions to their desk mates. The part can be done like this: Students A can say meanings and Student B acts them out. Then they can do in turn.. Step 3 Summary

We can communicate with people even if we don’t use words or voice. Body language is part of language which sometimes can convey more emotions than words. So it is a necessity for us to know body language to avoid misunderstanding. Step 4 Homework

Think of more actions to express themselves instead of by words. 2. Go over all the new words and

prepare for the reading text.
