Unit2 Neighbours Good Neighbours Teaching aims：

1.

Read Amy and Simon’s conversation to learn about Simon’s neighbours.

2.

To be able to talk about what you can do to help your neighbours. 3.

To learn the new words and useful expressions.

Step 1

Lead-in By asking students questions, lead in new lesson. Questions as following:

1. Where do you live? 2. How many buildings are there in your neighbourhood? 3. What do you have around your neighborhood? 4. Do you like living there? 5. Do you often help your neighbours? 6. What are your neighbours like?

Step 2 Presentation Show new words to students and then explain new words. Words: helpful, community, skill, problem, something, engineer, check, broken, someone

fix, anyone, college

Step 3 Warming up Students work in pairs and talk about their neighbours by asking questions as following: 1.Who’s your neighbor?

2.What does he/she do? 3.What do you think of him/her? 4.Do you welcome him/her to your home? 5.Do you always help each other?

Step 4 Read the conversation and answer the following questions: 1.What happens when Simon has problem? 2. What does Simon’s community centre have?

3. What do volunteers do at the community centre? 4. When do they meet? 5. What are they going to do this weekend? 6. There’s something wrong with Simon’s computer. How will he get help? 7. Annie’s bicycle is broken. How will she get help?

8. A boy has some problems with his homework. How will he get help? 9. What do volunteers do to help the old people? 10. What does Amy think of Simon to have such a neighbourhood? Listen to the conversation and let students finish the table Problem
