Warmer
Ask the students to get into groups. Ask them to think of all the subjects they study at school. Write them down on the board as a list. Now tell the students to copy the list. Tell them to write down next to each subject how well they think they are doing in the subject. Tell them it is like a school report but in this case they write their own. Give them a key to help them.

C= OK
D= Poor
The students can make a table. They write the list of subjects in the first column and then give themselves a grade in the second column. Teaching tips
This helps the students to personal the vocabulary and to think about the words in relation to themselves. It forces them to think about the words and to use them in a meaningful way. This helps them to remember the words in the future. Listen, point and find ‘am, is, are’
You may want to start by introducing the new vocabulary.
On the board write up the following words.
Lazy
work hard
naughty
good
Quiet
loud
shy
clever
Explain the words to the students. Try to explain the words in English . Use lots of explanations and gestures.
Teaching tips:
‘Quiet’ is a good thing. If you are quiet in the class then you don’t make any noise to disrupt other students. ‘shy’ means you are more than quiet, it means you don’t feel confident talking to other students at any time. You tend not to like social groups and
situation where you
are the centre of attention.
Now get four large pieces of paper and write the following words on the them. Put the words on the walls around the class.
Now explain to the students that you are going to play the tape and they have to listen and when they hear any of the words they must point at them and repeat them.
Tell the students to close their books. Play the tape one sentence at a time. This gives the students time to point and repeat any words they hear. You may need t play the tape twice.
Now tell the students to open their books and read the dialogue. Tell the students to underline all the sentences with adjectives in them that they pointed at. After a while write the answers on the board. Note:
There are other adjectives in the text, but we are only looking at the words that the students pointed at.
Now look at each adjective in each sentence. Ask the students that verb goes with adjectives. Answers Is---naughty ‘s---good Isn’t---lazy ‘s---good ‘s---clever Is---good Practice:
Write the new vocabulary on the blackboard and some other adjectives that the students know.
Tell the students that you are going to say the words. They have to repeat the words.
Then invite the students to come to the front and make the stress on the words by drawing the lines under them.
Now do the activity in the book
