Teaching procedures Step 1. Lead-in Do you know anything about inventors and inventions? Let’s enjoy a picture!

What’s this? Do you know who invented it?

A man called Edison invented the electric lamp. He was determined and he was not afraid of failure.

His inventions made him respected by all the people. Inspired by Edison, I made up my mind to become an inventor.

Please read the summary of the reading passage and find out all the past participles. 2.

Do you know the functions of the past participles?

My mother was upset when she found snakes in our courtyard. she asked me to get rid of them but not harm them. but there seemed to be powders designed to kill snakes. So I had some researches made, then I placed a frozen bowl over the snakes' habitat to catch them. Finally I collected the snakes and the next day we released them all back into the wild. My friends and relations encouraged me to apply for a patent, but it is difficult to get new ideas accepted unless they are truly novel. I was interested in the idea, so I filled in the form, now I'm waiting for the result. Step 3 Conclude the usage of past participle
