Welcome to the unit Step1 Lead-in

T: Hello, everyone, today we are going to learn Comic strip &Welcome to the unit of Unit 3. My friends will come to Huai’an tomorrow. They are exchange students

from the UK. I want to show them around Huai’an. Do you have any suggestions? Introduce some places of interest in Huai’an and the famous Huaiyang Cuisine to the students to make student be familiar with our hometown and what we can do there.

Keep these tips in mind, which are quite helpful when you treat your friends next time. But I think to treat friends well, the most important thing is to know what they like and dislike and to make them feel at home.

Step 2 Presentation

1. Exchange students from the UK. T: A group of exchange students from the UK are coming to visit Sunshine Town. They are telling the Class1, Grade 7 students what they like doing. Let’s ask and answer in pairs. A: What does she/he like/enjoy/love doing? B: He/she likes/enjoys/loves …

2. Ways to give advice. T: Discuss with your partners to find other ways of giving suggestions. 3. Suggested activities. T: The exchange students like doing different things. The Class 1, Grade 7 students are suggesting activities for them. Listen to the tape and answering the following questions. (1) What can they do in the cinema? (2) What are they going to try for dinner? (3)Who will they take to their school’s football field?

4. Role-play. Read the conversation in roles in a group of six.

Comic strip Step 1 Lead-in T: Eddie’s old friend is also coming to see him. Can you guess where they are going to visit and what they are going to eat?

Step 2 Presentation 1. Listen and answer. T: Listen to the conversation between Eddie and Hobo and answer the questions below. (1) Is there anything left in the fridge?

(2) How much money do they have?

(3) What does Eddie want to do with the money? 2. Retell the story according to the passage. 3. Act the dialogue out. 4. How to be a good host. T: Do you think Eddie is a good host? Why or why not? Do you know how to treat a friend?

Step 3 Practice 1. My hometown. Sunshine Town is really a good place. What about our hometown? How much do you know

about our hometown—Huai’an. 2. Welcome to Huai’an. T: Let’s show the exchange students around Huai’an!

Work in a group of four and make a brief(简要的) introduction of Huai’an.

(4) fun places in Huai’an
