Step I. Warming up.

T: Hello, boys and girls. I’m Miss Fang. Welcome to my class. Now, stand up and follow me, please.

T: East and west, home is the best!

South and north, let’s have a rest!

Ss: Say and do the actions after the teacher. Step II. Presentation. 1.

Learn to say the new words.

T: (课件出示) Boys and girls, look at these letters. Please make a new word with them.

(2) (课件出示) Read the words: eat, wet. Put ‘s’ into these two words. Can you read them? Ss: East. West.

T:(师板书新单词。)Read and spell the words.

(3)T: (手指黑板上的指南针)Look at this compass. Here is east. Here is west. Do you know this direction?

Ss: North. South. T: (师板书新单词。)Read and spell the words. (4) T: (将班上学生分成四个组)You’re the north group. You’re the south group. You’re the west group. You’re the east group.

T: The north group, stand up…

(5)(课件出示指南针)Look, N, S, W, E. What do they refer to? N refers to north. S refers to ______... Ss: South / west / east. (6) T:(课件出示chant) N is for north. North, north, north.

S is for south. South, south, south.

W is for west. West, west, west.

E is for east. East, east, east. Ss:①Read after the teacher. ②Each group reads the sentence about their own direction.

2. Learn to say the new sentences. (1)T:(课件出示世界地图) Look at the map of the world. There are 193 countries in the world. This country is America. Learn to say the new words: country, America. ( 师板书新单词。)

Ss: Read the sentences together. ③Ss: Talk about the directions of some American cities. 4. T: Read the sentences you’ve got.
