How to become a successful reader Step1 Warming-up The aim of this section is to remind students how to become a successful and competent reader.

In this section, the students are asked to describe how they read different kinds of Chinese books.The aim is to let students know they are already skilful readers in their own language, what about employing such techniques in other situations? 1)What's the first thing you do when you are given a text to read? 2)Once you decide on the book, do you often predict the contents and the result? 3)What if you have to read a text which is hard for you to understand? Step 2 Reading The aim of this section is to tell the students what’s the good reading habit.

1. Skimming (look through the passage quickly to get the main idea) Below are the headings and sub-headings for the reading passage. Write them in the correct place in the text.
