Step 1:

Lead-in

1. Teacher asks the students some questions

(a) How many days are there in a week?

(b) What are they? 2. Ask the students more questions and tell the simple past tense.

(a) What day is it today?

(b) What day was it yesterday?

Step2. Presentation

1. Teacher puts one book into a student’s desk, then ask the students one question: Where is the book? Help the students answer: It’s in the desk. Then teacher puts the book on the desk and asks the students again: Where is the book now? It’s on the desk.

2. Teacher introduces the simple past tense to the student: we use the simple past tense to talk about the things in the past. Then make some dialogues with the students. (1). When did you get up yesterday morning? (2). What did you do yesterday?
