Unit 7 How much are these pants? Good afternoon, everyone!

Today we are learning together I am very happy . Now I’ll introduce Section A (from 1a to2c) of Unit7. It’s from Grade 7 in Go For It! The title is “How much are these pants?”. I’ll introduce the some steps. Ⅰ、Analysis of teaching material Ⅱ、Teaching aids Ⅲ、Teaching method Ⅳ、Studying ways Ⅵ、Teaching procedures.

Part One: Analysis of teaching material The main topic of this unit is shopping. We learn

“asking about prices and talking about clothing and thanking someone”. We know, according to the

syllabus, one of the main aims of English teaching in

middle school is to improve students’ communicating ability in English. Then how can we develop students’ communicating ability? As teachers, we should carry out the spirit of the syllabus in handling the teaching materials.

(二) Teaching aims

(1) Learn

the vocabulary and the sentence : how much …

(2) Use the sentences they’ve learned to communicate.

(3) Describe the clothing

by using woeds

like red yellow big small and so on. (4) Train the students’ team spirit from the experience of team work. （三）Teaching key and difficult points .

Teaching Tools. Tools I use in this lesson are a computer, a tape player and students’ old clothing.

Part Two：Teaching Methods

As we all know: the main aims of learning English in middle school is to improve students’

abilities of listening 、speaking、reading and writing . So in this lesson I will let the Ss learn in real situations, finish a task by making a survey to help the Ss to get a better understanding the conversation while the teacher acts as the director.

Part Three: Studying ways.

The students who sit at the same table and groups can make a discussion and learn each other. It makes each student be relaxed. They needn’t worry about making mistakes. It can

think and

say what they want to say. Study becomes more relaxed and pleased in this kind of environment.

Part Four :Teaching steps For the whole class, “Super Student Contest” is just a clue to go through it. I use the clue because of the following reasons:

a. The students are very interested in the TV show “Super girl”.

b. The courage of super girls is worth owning. c. It’s a contest. So it can train the students’ team spirit. d. I want them to know if they work hard step by step, they are sure to get something. Task1: Warming up I think a good beginning is a half of success.In order to form a better English

I’ll begin my class with an English song—The number song. This song is very funny. While listening to the song, I will let students stand up one by one to make it more interesting. Then say “Welcome to ‘Super Student Contest’” to lead in the class. Task 2: Memory challenge Show the students some pictures for a few times, then cover them. Let them guess what is in the picture.

this task is to check students’

work. The students are asked to learn how to

spell words by themselves. In the traditional way, students were asked to follow the teachers many times to read the new words. I am sure this method is

more popular with students. Then the students read the words. Pointing to the picture and ask: what color is it? They may answer like this: the hat is yellow. Write on the blackboard: it’s a yellow hat.

Task3: Suit matching

Let one student whose clothes look very nice stand up. Say “it is a yellow shirt. These are long blue pants. They match well.” Then let them do group work. Show their suit in front of the whole class. The students use their own clothes to do group work. 、

this task is to develop the students’ ability to describe something when they see it. By doing that, at the same time,

tell what is beauty. Task 4: Guessing the price

Ask about the price of the cheapest thing . “How much is your hat?”

Help ss to answer. Then ask the students the price of some cheap things. “How much is the eraser?” “It’s 1 yuan.” “How much are these two erasers?” “They are 2 yuan.” Ask them to guess the price in pairs. This task is set to practise the sentence : how much is this/ are these?

Task 5: Listening challenge

listening part as it is a very important skill. Show the pictures and tell the colors and guess the price . Say “let’s see if your guesses are right”. Listen to the tape cearfully Listen once and answer the question. Listen and repeat. Then read in pairs. In this way.I want to improve students’ listening and speaking ability. Task6:The best buyer/ seller Ask the students to bring old clothing to school. Half of them are sellers. Half of them are buyers. They are sure to use the sentence above. A: How much is /are…B:

It’s…/They are…A: Here is the money. B: Thank you. This task is very close to the real life. After that, the buyers and sellers fill in the forms. Things Color Size Price Task 7: Discussion In order to give them a right guide on how to spend money in a right way and not to waste anything, I’d like to ask them the question: how will you spend the money? This is an open question. Different answers are welcomed. This will give them a hint to think about their life. Task 8: Summary In this class, we’v learned the

key vocabularies and some languages. And we also know how to ask prices.

Task 9: Homework

Go to the supermarket nearest to your home and make a survey about the price of some clothes. Write a passage survey and compare with your partner’s. Find out which supermarket has the cheapest clothes. Task 10:The blackboard .my class is over. It’s a____. How much is the__? It’s_____.
