6B Unit 8 Our dreams Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, dear distinguished judges: Today I feel so honored that I can give you a presentation of my teaching design. It consists of 5 parts. Part1: My analysis of teaching materials and students. First of all, I will have a analysis of the teaching materials and ss. This lesson is a conversation about dreams between Miss Li and her students. It mainly deals with the key words about job and sentence structure: What do you want to be? I want to be... Students in Grade6 have learnt English for 3 years, and words about jobs have been learnt in Grade 5. So they have basic English knowledge and skills. Part 2: Teaching aims Secondly, I will present my teaching aims. About knowledge: 1)By the end of class, the students should understand the text. 2) Read, recognize and use key words and sentence structures.

About ability : Students will be able to

Retell the story and talk about their future.

Emotion: I will guide the ss to know the importance of having dreams and making efforts to make dreams come true.

Part 3: Teaching important and difficult points: Thirdly, I will focus on the teaching important and difficult points. 1.

Ss can undertand the meaning of the text and have their own dreams.

2. Undertand, speak and use the key vocabulary and sentence structures.

The difficult point, I think, is whether students can talk about their dreams and explain why.

Part 4: Teaching methods and aids: Fourthly, for the teaching methods, I will adopt 3P model ( presentation, practice and production). And situation approach will also be used. Teaching aids include multi-media, colorful cards, memos.

Part5 : Teaching procedures: Next comes to the most important part, my teaching design. I will illustrate it step by step. Step 1: Lead in After a short greeting with ss, I will show my picture and share my personal

information with ss, such as my hobbies, favorite food and drinks and dream. When talking about dreams, I will let them guess like this, “Maybe you want to be a teacher...”. Then I will show the answer, I want to be a teacher and a hostess.

Purpose: 1.Sharing my information with my students can make us much closer, which can make them feel relaxed and interested in my lesson. 2.When they are guessing, words learnt in Grade 5.can be reviewed.

At the same time, the topic can be lead in naturally.

Step 2:Presentation 1.Opening: Teach new words in a situation. As I said, I want to be a hostess, I create a situation that I will be the hostess of China Dream Show. Some celebrities will be invited to be dream judges. They are football player Messi, the China’s first female astronaut Liu Yang, famous pianist Langlang and beautiful dancer, Yangliping. During their introduction, new words about their jobs will be taught.

Purpose: The purpose of this design is to provide a situation for ss to learn new words. And the China Dream show will be the situation of this lesson.

2. Watch and say Today six students will take part in dream show. Their photos will be shown and students can say their name easily.

3.Listen and match Then I will play the tape one by one and let ss listen carefully. “What do they want to be?” and match the names with their dreams. Then, let the ss retell by using sentences like, Mike wants to be a dentist.

The aim of the step is to help students have a general idea of the dialogue and practice the sentence structure.

Read and fill in the table. Then I will ask, why do boys have these dreams. I will ask students to read the text carefully to underline the answers.

Answers will be: help children with their teeth, fly to the moon, play in the world cup.

When checking answers, some phrase will be explained, such as care about, fly spaceship to the moon. I will do actions or show pictures for them to achieve a better understanding.

The aim of the step is to make ss have a deep understanding of the dialogue on the left and know some key phrases.

Read and make a poem Firstly, I will say”Since you have known girls dream, can you find the reasons?” I will let them read the dialogue on the right and put answers in the poems. Then encourage them to use their imagination to fill the blanks left. At last, I will let ss to read poems together. The aim of the step is to help ss understand the dialogue on the right and know key expressions.

Step 3 Production 1.

Show time I will give the stage to ss, they will be hosts and participants. I will introduce rules first and give key points for their reference. Groups with good performance will get”like”.

Purpose: This activity is to develp ss’ ability of communication, cooperation and performance. Making a new dialogue is to check whether the ss can use the new words and sentences correctly and skillfully.

2. Make a card Ss write their dreams on an note. Model will be given on the screen. After finished, we will enjoy some beautiful sentence about dreams together.

This step is to practice their ability of writing and encourage them to have dreams and make efforts to make them come true.

Step 4 homework At last, homework will be given to consolidate what ss learnt today. 1)
