教材分析： This unit mainly discusses the sports events, the Olympic Games and the attitudes toward the matches. This class is the first period of reading. The reading material, a speech given by a member of the International Olympic Committee, talks about the history and significance of the Olympic Games, which is the main topic of this unit. It is the foundation and core of this unit, that is, the most fundamental and important part. According to the new Curriculum Criteria, I decide to adopt Task-based Learning. The students will be given tasks to talk about the differences between the ancient Olympic Games and

the contemporary Olympics. Meanwhile, they will appreciate the Olympic spirits, and hold a positive attitude towards these famous athletes mentioned in the passage. The New Curriculum Reform also requires the student to obtain and analysis the information in English by summarizing and reasoning. It is a challenge for the students. I decide to use charts to break through the difficult points in this period,because tables can clearly show the relation between the information

学情分析： Students of this class have mastered a certain number of words and expressions, which make them prepared to read the material of this lesson. In addition, they have learned the reading strategies like skimming and scanning, which will help them understand the general idea of the passage and deal with some details. However, part of them still have difficulty in reading between lines. The topic of this reading material is about the Olympics, which will appeal to some of students for they love sports. 教学辅助工具： PowerPoint, blackboard and worksheets，multimedia 教学目标
