Unit 3 Healthy or Unhealthy?

Period 1

Teaching content : Look and learn, listen and say

Teaching aims: 1. learn some vocabularies in the section of Look and learn.

2. To help students master the pattern : What did you have for breakfast this morning? I had…。

3. To develop students’ability of competition and cooperation.

4. To help students form the value of living a healthy life.

Teaching focus: 1. Using the key words in content e.g., healthy, unhealthy, hamburger, yesterday, fruit, pie, pizza.

2. Using Wh-questions to find out specific information. e.g., What did you have for breakfast this morning? 3. Using modeled sentences to talk about one’s meals. e.g., I had some bread and milk.

Teaching difficulties: Learners use the simple past tense to write about what people had for three meals.

Teaching method: Task-based teaching method and Communicative teaching method.

Teaching procedures:

Warm -up: sing a song.

Lead-in:

T: How are you,today? I’m fine too. And I’m very happy? Do you want to know why?

Ss : Yes.

T: Because I had my favourite food today. I had a hamburger and some milk. So, what did you have for breakfast this morning?

S1: I had an egg and some milk.

S2: I had some bread and meat.

S3: ...

S4: I didn’t have breakfast.I had nothing this morning. T: Are you hungry?

S5: I’m hungry now.

T:Breakfast is very important, and we should have breakfast every day. Today, let’s learn unit 3 healthy or unhealthy?

Presentation:

Task 1 listen to the tape and tell me the main idea of it. (It talks about their breakfast.)

Task 2 Listen to the tape again and read after it

Task 3 Read the section of listen and say, then finish the task

on page 15. You can work in groups.

Task 4 Let’s check your answers.

T: The teacher show them the correct answer.

Task 5 Let’s learn the passage together.

T: Now talk about what kind of food is healthy or unhealthy in our daily life.

Practice:

Task 1: role play

Task2: Do a survey

One student is the reporter, and ask other students’ meals in her group. Then finish the form.

e.g., S1: What did you have for breakfast this morning? S2: I had...

S1: Do you think it is healthy?

S2: ...

Summary: Today we have learned some vocabularies about food and drink, and modeled sentences to talk about one’s meals. So, we should form the healthy food habit.
