in Reading I. General idea of the design for this lesson

The lesson is designed to get students to explore various effective approaches to detail inference questions in reading by practing, discussing and summarizing. In the whole class, students are required to finish seven passages, so the reading amount is sufficient to develop students’

reading speed. The pattern of the lesson is based on experience, discussion, summary and then consolidation, aiming at improving students’ reading ability, especially inference ability. II. Teaching Background Analysis 1.The analysis of teaching contents For students planning to take part in the NCEE, reading ability is the most important one among all abilities and the reading exercises also account for the majority in the testing paper. Among four kinds of questions in reading exercise, the inference questions,especially detail inference questions are the most difficult. How to deal with this kind of exercise and improve the accuracy matters.

2.The analysis of the students

For students in Class one, most of them don’t know how do deal with this kind of exercise and lose more grades in it. The reasons are as follows. First, they are not clear about the characteristics of the exercise and the questions patterns. Second, they can’t find out the key sentences and make a appropriate reference. Therefore, some approaches are urgently needed to help them do this kind of exercise and improve the accuracy.
