2. Make sentences using modal verbs （1）电脑能够代替人做很多事，但不能完全取代人类。

（2）运动可以强身，让我们清醒在一天学习之后。

（3）你怎么可能理解整篇文章，如果你只读了它的一部分？

Notes: If we talk about the ability some one has now, we use the modal verb, can. If we talk about the ability that someone had in the past, we usually use the modal verb could. (4)为了备课我经常熬夜。

(5)我们必须找到有效地教英语的方法。

(6)照片应该会在12点前准备好。

Notes: If we want to show we are forced to do something, we use have to. If we want to express that it is necessary to do sth., we usually use must.Should and ought to are used when we give advice or tell sb that they are under obligation to do sth. （7）我今晚_____看世界杯开幕式。

Notes: The different modal verbs show the degree of certainty. For example when might is used, it shows that the speaker is uncertain whether he or she will do sth. However, when we use will, we mean we are quite that we will do something. （8）我可以和你讲句话吗？

（9）我们在暑假去做兼职吧？

(10)请你帮个忙把椅子搬到办公室好吗？

Notes: We use modal verbs to make requests, suggestions or offer.

Step 3. practice Have the students read the instructions for Part A on Page 29. Then have them go over the checklist of what is necessary , recommended and optional for a potential Olympic city. Have them do it individually and then ask one group to read out the passage.

Homework: Recite Part A on Page 29.

Work in groups and try to make six different sentences in one group. Only in this way can we guarantee the efficiency of our learning.

Only by changing the way we treat the environment can we live in harmony with it. Only by lighting up a light for others, can we illuminate（照亮）ourselves. Never shall we give up our dreams even though we come across difficulties. Step 2. the form of modal verbs. Have the students read Part 4 on Page 28.Make sure they understand that why the continuous form or the perfect form is used with a modal verb in the example sentences . The following examples can be give.

John isn’t here to attend the meeting. He must be going over his lessons. 2.

He knows nothing about what was taught yesterday. He can’t have concentrated on it yesterday .

The money is gone. Who could have taken it? 4.

We shouldn’t have told David what Mike told you. Notes:情态动词表推测，评论或判断

情态动词后接完成体的四个句型：

①、could/might have done：“本来可以……”

②、should/ought to have done：“本应该……”

③、should not/ ought not to have done：“本不该……”

④、needn't have done：“本不必……”

注意：以上四个结构都指过去的情况, 表并未如此, 在客观陈述事实时要用一般过去时. ⑤、must have done 一定做过了某事

⑥、can’t /couldn’t have done 不可能做过了某事

注意：

对发生事情的肯定的推测用must ,在否定句或疑问句中用can 或could Step 3. Practice 1.The police are stopping all the cars. They must be looking for a criminal. Where is Jack?

Have the students read the instructions for Part B on Page 31. First have them complete dialogue individually, and then read the dialogue in pairs to check their answers. Ask students why they used shall or will in each blank. Step 6 Part A. Ask students to read the instructions for Part A on Page 31, and then complete the passage. When students give their answers, ask them to explain why they

记

上课之前学生放了一首歌，偶然发现里面有很多的情态动词，所以叫学生做了准备每小组写下一句含情态动词的歌词。其中有11句，所以还留有两次机会让他们竞争。学生情绪很高。就着这11个句子我提到了情态动词的否定式，形式，虚拟语气中的情态动词的用法。让学生有了大概的了解。我们有全按照PPT上的进行，因为有教辅资料，用汉语写的，又紧扣考点，所以我让他们看了10分钟的书，然后做了后面的20个单选，规定10分钟之类做完，检测下看书的效果。情态动词的练习要做到准确无误的话，一要会翻译，揣测到说话人的语气，因为情态动词不是表示动作和状态。在上课的时候想起了经常造的情态动词的两个倒装句，让他们在小组里六人每人一句，都跃跃欲试的样子。表现很活跃。因为是临时想到的没有给学生做很好的示范，下节课让他们对几个从书面表达里摘抄来的句子。
