There Is a Bird on Your Head!

教材分析：

There Is a Bird on Your Head! 这本书是Mo Willems An Elephant & Piggie Book 系列绘本中的一本，内容生动活泼，画面形象有趣，情节精彩曲折，使学生有话可说，乐于与教师进行沟通交流。

设计理念：

本课的设计理念是使用对话式阅读，即Dialogic Reading，让学生在对话式教学中理解绘本内容，用英语完成如猜测、问答、描述图画等任务。

教学目标：

在教学过程中，学生能够通过完成各种教学任务，如猜测、问答、描述图画、模仿等方式理解绘本内容；

让学生在阅读过程中使用英语完成任务，激发他们使用英语的动机，提升语言技能；

使学生发挥想象力，体会阅读的乐趣，拓宽英语学习的途径。

学情分析：

五年级学生的年龄在十一到十二岁左右，虽然处于高年级学段，但仍然活泼好动，喜欢直观形象思维和抽象思维相结合，对游戏、竞赛、画画还有兴趣。还有一些学生会因为英语基础薄弱或怕出错，上课不再愿意积极发言。因此教师应该面向全体学生，以学生的发展为宗旨，把激发学生的学习兴趣放在首位，引导学生端正学习态度，掌握良好的学习方法，培养学生良好的学习习惯。

Teaching procedures Pre-reading: Ⅰ. Greeting Say Hello to Ss and talk freely. Ⅱ. Warm-up & Lead-in Talk about something about T and Ss, such as hobbies. T: Do you like reading books? Then take out the picture book and talk about the funny pictures on the book. ( Do you like toothpaste/a woolly hat/salt/jam/a teddy/milk/a bird on your head? ) Ⅲ. Talk about the cover of the book and the names of two characters. Have Ss guess what will happen in the story.

While-reading: T tells Ss the first part of the story from page 2 to 22. Ask them some questions according to the pictures. Have them imagine what will happen next and read some dialogues lively and emotionally. Explain the word nest with some pictures.

Post-reading: Ss do the exercises on their paper. Draw and fill in the blanks on page 1 to 3. Then guess what will happen next on page 4. Draw and write down their answers. Share with the class. While-reading: T plays the video from page 23 to 47. Complete the sentences on card 4 on the board. Have Ss read the sentences on four cards. Pay attention to“Oh,

dear!” and “Oh, my god!”. Explain the words hatching and hatched with some pictures.

Post-reading: Ask Ss if they are Piggie, what will they suggest Gerald or help him. Discuss it.

While-reading: Read the last part of the story from page 48 to 57. Imitate some dialogues.

Post-reading: Talk about this book with Ss and have them give a title for this book. Write down on their paper and share with the class. T shows the title of the book they have read and the writer. Introduce some other books in this series. Make a mini book together with the paper.

Homework: Make the mini book and complete the ending on page 5. Share the story next class.
