Unit 5 What Is He like ?

Period Two

Learning aims:

1.Talk about the people in our daily life at P41 .

Use the structures:

①What is he like ?

②What do you think of sb. ?

2.Learn the new dialogue at P39.

Main and difficult sentences:

①He always tries to make Math easy to understand .

②We find Math classes interesting .

3.We should learn to be polite to the others . (我们应学会礼貌待人).

Step 1 Revision:

Show the pictures and Chinese meaning on the screen . Have Ss review the new words one by one . So that Ss can talk about freely next.

Step 2 Ask and answer :

1.Show the pictures and words , Have Ss say the sentences to describe the people like this : Kevin is shy .

2. Have Ss ask the questions and one of them to answer . And see who can remember the words .

3. Ask Ss : How to ask what sb. is like ? Then write down the dialogues on the Bb.

Next have Ss talk about some Ss in the class using the structures .

A: What is he like ?/ A: What do you think of sb. ? B: He/She is________.

Make sure that Ss can remember the structures by practise more.

Step 3 Learn the dialogue :

1.Talk about the questions :

①What subject do you like best ? Why ?

②Who is your ______ teacher ?

③ What is she/he like ?

Teacher can help Ss answer Why like this : ( Because )

So Ss learn the new dialogue easier .

2.Show the picture and introduce like this :

This is Kevin and his sister .The woman is her Math teacher----Ms. May .The man is Kevin’s Math teacher----Mr. Black . They are talking about their Math teachers .

3.Listen to the tape and then answer the questions .

Answer the questions:

①What subject does Kevin like best ?

He likes Math best . / His favorite subject is Math .

②. Why does Kevin like his Math teacher ?

He is kind . He always tries to make Math easy to understand.

They find Math classes interesting.

Explain the sentences to the Ss . And read them for times.Make sure that Ss can understand .

③ What does Kevin's sister think of Ms. May?

4. Ss read the dialogue in different ways .

Read between boys and girls .

Read in pairs .

If there is time , Ss can act out the dialogue .

Step 4 Test : Do you know answers ?
