Lesson 18 Maddy the monster

教学过程

Step I. Class Opening.

1.Greetings!

T: Hello, boys and girls.

Ss: Hello, teacher .

T: How are you today?

Ss: Fine,thanks. And you?

T: I’m fine,thank you.

T: Can you t ell me “How old are you?”(找其中一名学生提问) S1: I’m_____years old.

T:Can you tell me”How tall are you?”(问其中一名学生) S2: I’m_____meters tall.

T:How do you go to school?

S3: By______.

(设计意图:课前师生亲切的交流可以拉近师生之间的距离,并为下面旧知的复习奠定基础。)

2.Review.

1) Show pictures of David.

T:Ok.Boys and girls,please look here. Who is he?

Ss:David.

T:Yes.Guess, What is David’s job? how old is David?

S1: He is____years old.

T:Maybe.

S2:He is___years old.

T:Maybe.

T:Let’s look,how old is David.

Ss:He is twenty-eight years old.

T:Good.

T:How tall is David?

S: .He is .......

T:Maybe.

(设计意图:根据David 的个人信息,引出今天的主人公Maddy)

Step II. Story

1.Pre-reading activities

引出人物。

T:Boys and girls,we know David is tall. But there is a girl, she is taller than David.

(用阴影的形式遮住Maddy)Do you know who is she?

Ss:............

T:Maybe.

T: Now,l et’s have a look. Who is she? (将阴影除掉

板书并教授monster利用不

同的怪物的图片让学生理解)She is a girl. Her name is Maddy.

T:Maddy has a good friend. Do you know who is she?

Ss:.......

T: Let’s listen to the whole stroy and try to answer:

(1)What is the name of Maddy’s friend ?

(2)Are they best friend ?

T:Who knows the answers? Please hands up

S:She is .....(一边回应学生一边展示答案)

(设计意图:引导学生用听的方法尝试找出答案,同时也暗示学生这篇故事是在两个好朋友之间发生的) T: Do you want to know more things about Maddy and Anna?

Ss: Yes.

(设计意图:由前面的内容自然引出故事人物,进而对学生们讲一些更多关于Maddy和Anna的事情。) 2.While-reading activities

1) Read quickly and answer

T: OK. please read Picture 1- 3 quickly and answer my question :

1. How old is Maddy ? 2. How old is Anna ?

S: Maddy is 99 years old. Anna is 11 years old.

T;Is he/she right? ( 贴板书). (PPT中展示的是P3的图片和文字)

T: Maddy is 99 years old, Anna is 11years old. Who is older?

S: Maddy is older.

T:yes, what does Anna say ? who wants to say this like Anna? (模仿Anna 的口气)

T:If you want to tell others (其他人) about your age(年龄),what will you say?

S:I am.....years old.

2) Read silently and fill in the blanks.

T: OK. Very good ! but who is tall,who’s short ? This time read picture4-5 silently by yourself, and help me fill the blanks.

T: ok, who can tell us your answers.

S:......(贴板书)

T:Excellent! Please check the answers each other.

T:Finish? Now let’s read them together.

3) Read in groups and discuss

T: This is Maddy’s school. But What does Maddy do at school? What does Maddy like to do ?Why ? Let’s read Picture6-Picture8 in groups and discuss them.

(设计意图:小组合作阅读,找到相关问题的答案,尤其是why的回答。)

T:ok , what’s your group’s answer? Which group want to tell me?

S1:Read his book.

S2: Listen to the teacher, play basketdall.

T: Good.At school, Maddy reads books, listen to the teacher and play basketball.(让学生阅读两遍。)(贴板书)

T: Now let’s watch the whole story .

check the questions.“√” or “×”.

(1)Maddy lives in a big house.( )

(2)Anna is 5 meters tall. ( )

(3)Maddy goes to school by bus.( )

(4)Anna doesn’t like monsters. ( )

3.Post-reading.

T:Let’s review the story. Follow me! (通过复习,由老师示范retell)

T:Now please retell the story in your groups.

T: Who wants to stand up and retell for us?

T: Big hands for him/her! Good! Do you like Maddy and Anna ? You can tell the story to your dad and mom at home .

(设计意图:老师先带领学生们一起复述一遍故事,给孩子们一个示范,然后学生以小组为单位进行故事复述。这样既可以使学生做好语言上的准备,又可以提供练习机会,给孩子自信心。为接下来的复述展示做好铺垫。)
