Sub-task: To describe the changes in Shanghai. Background analyses: The students of Grade Five have learnt English for more than four years, they have had the abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing of some simple daily expressions. Before learning this module, the students have learnt how to use simple past tense to talk about past states and to use the simple present tense to express present states. In Module One, they have learnt to describe the growth of an insect, such as a butterfly and a moth. Module Three is about things around us, such as signs, weather and changes of one’s room. They will also learn how to use the simple present tense to express present states. e.g. Today, Shanghai is a big city.
