Learning about Language The General Idea of This Period This period is about the useful words, expressions and structures learned in the reading part. Ask the students to read the new words and phrases together. Step 2 Useful words and expressions T: From the reading part, we can find some useful words and expressions. So now please do some exercises: Task 1: Ask the students to read a passage and pay attention to the words in bold. One day a professor was in need of a woolen

garment so he went shopping. The shopkeeper told him that he should pay at least 500 dollars but after a bargain he compromised with the owner on the price at 300 dollars at last. While he was in the shop, he met two men with stockings over their heads. Suddenly he realized they were robbers and they were robbing the keeper of all the money. So he pretended to overlook them and went out quickly. Then he didn't hesitate to call up the police.

When the policemen arrived, he showed them in and arrested the robbers at once. He felt very proud of the outcome

Correct the mistakes in the short passage.

In the class, the students were discussing that they were in need grammar in learning English. Some students thought the grammar would never fade on, while others thought it were unnecessary. The two side didn't make a compromise to each other. Just then Li Hua showed their teacher out. The teacher told them grammar could never be overlook. The two sides agreed to their teacher.
