Ⅵ. Teaching methods

I adopt strategies of three steps(pre, while and post) and task-based teaching method to guide students understand the passage better. Ⅶ. Teaching procedures Step1. Lead-in The teacher asks the students, “Do you want to know something about my home?”After Ss answered yes, the T describes her home with pictures showing on the screen. Then brainstorm.

Which one is similar to yours?”And then write three or four sentences describing their homes. Then, invite some students to share their homes. Step2. Pre-reading T: Now, let’s come to Xiao Li’s hometown. The T shows PPT and the students guess which city it is. Then play a short video.

Step3. While-reading Task 1 Read the passage quickly and

summarize the main idea. It’s about John Martin’s visit to Xiao Li's hometown---Xiamen. Task 2 Read the passage carefully and finish activity 1 and 2. Step4. post-reading Task 3 Read the passage again and then we'll draw a chart together.

Homework Enrich your short paragraph using what you have learned in the passage.
