Consolidation of some

words and expressions in Module5 unit2 The United Kingdom Ⅱ. Teaching aim By the end of the class, the students are able to 1. Knowledge objects:

1) Consolidate the following target words and useful expressions in unit2 through brainstorming and making sentences as well as translating a related passage.

2) Grasp the form, use and meaning of the target words and phrases through applying them in language situations.

Get the students to know what is the task in this period. ------ Reviewing the words and phrases in unit2. 2. To Warm up the students by getting them to read the target words aloud in limited time.

Step2 Imagination training----- Learn the words through pictures 1. To activate the whole class by getting them to guess the words according to the pictures.

2. Fill in the blanks with the correct forms of the words through organizing the group competition. (Get the groups to challenge to finish different exercises with the pictures.)

Step3 Brainstorming and exercises----- word-extension 1.

Group cooperative brainstorming: Students have finished listing some relevant vocabulary and phrases as well as sentences patterns of the three words “attract, unwilling, convenience”. Take the word “possibility” as an example to the class. 2. Word application exercises:

Step4 Translation -----use of the words and phrases Use the target words and expressions to complete the passage.

亚洲由48个国家组成，令我们高兴的是，今年十一月一场举世瞩目的亚运会将在被称作羊城的广州举行。广州也有很多旅游景点，除了观看比赛，世界各地的人们来广州观光旅游也是很方便的。现在，广州人民团结一致为这次赛事做好各方面的安排。值得赞扬的是，全国愿意合力去完成这一任务，这也为世界体育做出了巨大贡献。

Asia consists of 48 countries. To our delight, this November the world-famous Asian Games will be held in Guangzhou which is also called Five Goats City. Guangzhou is also famous for many tourist attractions. Apart from watching the games, it is also very convenient for people from all over the world to go sightseeing here. Now people in Guangzhou are united to make all arrangements for the event. To its credit, the whole nation is willing to work together to accomplish this task, which will make great contributions to the world sports.

Step5 writing sentences and articles

Task for the students: Made up at least five sentences or an article with the target words and phrases we learned in unit2, applying as many of them as possible in the sentences or articles.

Suggestions:1.Student C，D ，E. & F write five sentences

2.Student A&B try to write an article

Every student has made up at least five sentences or write down a passage with the target words and phrases before class. Now get them to choose at least five good sentences from their groups and improve them through group discussion. Get one or two groups to read their sentences aloud to the class.

Step6 Assignment 1.Prepare for the dictation of the target words and expressions.

2.Students C, D,E,F recite the passage “GZ Asian Games” we translated today. 3. Students A, B write about a place you are familiar with, using the words we review today.
