Knowledge aims 1. Students can read the new words caption, garment, whistle, woolen, hesitate, troublesome, wallet, outcome, condemn, brilliant, adaptation, thief

correctly.

2. Students will be able to get the meaning of the new words and write them down. 3. Students can finish exercise 2 & 3 on page 32. 4. Students will understand the Past Participle as Adverbial.

Ability aims 1. Students can use the new words to make sentences. 2. Students can pronounce new words though the spelling regulation. 3. Students can communicate with others in given situation. 4. Students can use the Past Participle as Adverbial to make sentences and make judgments to the Past Participle.

Emotional aims 1. Students will be interested in learning English.

2. Students will feel the beauty of the nature and love it. 3. After learning the scientists’ careers, students will feel their hard working and learn from the them. 4. Students will take care of their parents/pets/animals.

Teaching process 1. Check the answer key for exercise 1,2,3 on page 32 2. Revise the Past Participle as Adverbial -ed分词短语做状语可表示时间、地点、原因、条件、让步、伴随等意义。

I.若-ed分词作状语，句子的主语与分词所表示的动作构成动宾关系，即是该分词动作的承受者。

II. -ed分词（短语）作状语时，也可在其前面加上连词when, if, once, though, unless等，以便明确作何种状语。

①表时间，相当于一个时间状语从句，有时过去分词前可加连词when或while来强调时间概念。如：

从山顶上看，这个城市就像一个大花园。
